Butterfly-style handles provide easy-grip control over the pliers and V-cut wire cutters.
A Workshop of Tools in Your Pocket
A tour de force in tool design, the Crucial Tool gives you the essential components of a multitool in one remarkably lightweight package. This handy tool will cover all your needs, whether you're on the trail or working in the tool shed.

The Crucial Tool features a full-sized knife that opens with a thumb stud--just like a standard pocketknife. The half-serrated/half-fine-edge blade has razor-sharp cutting power and a blunt tip for prying and scraping. For safety, a liner lock keeps the blade securely in place. When the blade is extended, the handles can be folded and secured together to give you an accurate cut.

These butterfly-style handles also provide easy-grip control over the V-cutter, and their longer length provides better torque. The handles fan out for easy access to the rest of the Crucial Tool's components: the medium flat-head screwdriver, cross-head screwdriver, bottle opener, and carabineer clip.

Functions Like a Multitool, Carries Like a Pocketknife
Weighing only five ounces and measuring less than four inches in length when closed, the Crucial Tool is one of the most portable high-performance tools on the market. Its compact design and convenient carrying clip mean you'll always have it when you need it, for slicing rope, tightening bolts, opening bottles, and more.

All Components Safely Lock into Place
The Crucial Tool is constructed with stainless steel liner locks that keep the components locked into place while they're in the open position. This safety feature lets you relax and focus on the task at hand without the fear of the components folding up on your fingers while cutting, twisting, prying, etc.

Stainless Steel Design Maintains Durability and Appearance
Constructed with fine stainless steel, the Crucial Tool has an appearance that matches its performance. Its sleek look and contemporary silver-and-black handles aren't just for show, though. The Crucial Tool's stainless steel composition lends durability, so this tool will stand up to the elements and retain its precision and appearance for years to come.

The Crucial Tool is backed by Gerber's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

It clips easily enough onto your pocket.
Blue Team
When closing the handles and hiding the pliers it also snaps into place so it feels like the tool is one piece instead of two pieces folded together.

It's a good size though...some of the other multi-tools out there overdo it with tools you never use which makes for a bulky package.

I got this when my first Leatherman starting getting worn out (blade and pliers in poor repair). This is a little bit smaller and cheaper, so I thought I would try it. I wish I hadn't. The shape is not ergonomic for real work. The knife blade is not as sharp as I am used to, and it does not have a real tip. The other tools seem cheap and ineffective. The materials used are very light, and I don't feel comfortable subjecting them to too much punishment. For instance, the pliers flex too easily when subjected to any sideways force. The clip doesn't really add much, and it doesn't quite fold back in without some work. You can use it, but I don't. I bought another Leatherman.

The question is, what do you need?

This multitool provides very decent pliers (I for one prefer the anvil style cutters on the Gerber vs those found on my Leatherman Wave, especially for cutting a size 10 "E" guitar string, which the Wave can't cut). Even though the knife is partially serrated, which I am not a fan of, the non serrated portion is at the tip, which I prefer for slicing, and the blade feels like it is decent quality (even though it is no doubt 420 or comparible Gerber mystery steel).

What I don't like about the tool, and one of the reasons I don't carry it every day is that the flat driver is nearly useless at the plier end of the tool, and barely an inch long. The phillips is a 2D design, and doesn't get a good purchase in any application that requires significant force.

The carabineer is OK, but I would much prefer a more useful tool (especially since there is a pocket clip on the knife (which I think should be on EVERY multitool as an option). The black version of this tool, with the safety cutter is a better version, but that still leads me to the question, what do you need in a multi tool? This may cut it for some, I would say it is better to get a Leatherman Wingman at this price point, and for a few bucks more you can get a Juice S2, which adds scissors, and loses a few ounces in the process.

I have a Leatherman (a few different ones, actually) multi-tools, but wanted something with a clip so I could attach it to a belt or pack loop. Having these in a pocket, sheath or belt clip is not always the most convenient option. This will be decent for occasional or emergency use - that's why I purchased it. The frame is aluminum and plastic, the belt clip is decently heavy stainless, and the caribiner clip (also a bottle opener) is steel. Weight wist, it's light for the size.

The blade is 1/2 serrated, with a blunt-nose drop point tip - it's for cutting, obviously not for stabbing. It also has a thumb-catch extension for easy opening, and a spring closure to keep it in place.

It was obviously new and in the box when it arrived, but quality control is obviously lacking. It looks like it was shipped in a box of rocks and scrap iron. Scratched, chipped and dented. The two handle half don't align well when closed.

I picked it up on a daily deal for $22, so it was a good deal. For around $30 it's not really worth it.

I purchased this after a coworker raved about it when I mentioned I was looking for a replacement after my gear was stolen. After looking at some similar options at the same price point, I went ahead and snagged one. I've had it for a year now and have been able to use it under varied circumstances as well as side by side with other multitools.

Pros:
* Compact enough to keep in your pocket, large enough in your hands during use.
* Blade is quick access and easy to open one handed.
* Pliers have a good grip and are nice needle nose style.
* Smooth action on all the parts even after a year of hard use
* Flathead screwdriver piece is a good size.
* The whole tool, when opened, feels really comfortable to use. The edges have a good slope and the curved handles are a plus.
* You can use every part easily with most types of work gloves worn.

Cons:
* The grey color I ordered showed up purplish, not my color of choice at all.
* The metal this thing is made of is pretty weak, it takes on scratches, dings, folds, and mars easily.
* The phillips head screwdriver is too large for most of the applications where I needed one.
* The bottle-opener/pack clip tool gate bent on a bottle when used as instructed (was easy to bend back, but it's another weak metal component).
* All of the screws holding the tool together wriggle loose every week just from carrying in my pocket.
* Pocket clip becomes loose and bends at the slightest bump.

To give some context for its use: I have employed it in around the house tasks and a few small/general repair tasks in similar "household" settings. I've not used it camping or in heavier repair work that required more specific tools.

This product was a disappointment. The wire cutters did not cut wire, they just mashed it. The front of the knife blade wasn't very sharp altho the serrated portion was. The phillips screwdriver just worked its' way out of any screw that I tried it on. Overall, it's an overpriced piece of junk.
Gerber knows how to make great pocket multi-tools. I own two and I don't recall paying any more for quality USA made products than I did for this Far East import.
