Product Description

The Gerber 06 features a 3.80 in. black coated partially serrated tanto blade with a 4.8 in. black G-10 handle that features F.A.S.T technology and has an overall length of 8.6 in.

Amazon.com

Tactical and tough, the Gerber 06 F.A.S.T. clip folding knife is based on the best-selling 06 Auto design and matched with Gerber's proprietary forward action spring technology--or F.A.S.T. Using one hand, the blade is opened approximately ten degrees, allowing the spring to drive the blade lightening quick the rest of the way into the open position. The distinctive tanto blade of this Gerber 06 F.A.S.T. excels at thrusting and picking, while the half fine and half serrated edge blade helps with both cutting and ripping. The textured G-10 handle ensures a sure grip, and the pocket clip enables easy carrying. The blade measures 3.8 inches, and it has an overall length of 8.6 inches when opened and 4.8 inches when closed. Easily pocketable, it weighs 5.7 ounces. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Best folding knife I've ever owned.
doppelganger
The blade came very sharp, the erganomics are good for a folding knife, the assisted opening feature propels the blade out quickly, and the blade locks securely.

The look and overall feel are just great and i'd highly reccomend this knife!!

Gerber's done it again with a really great knife!! It's a little large for Everyday carry It's the same size as my motorola droid closed. But for those who prefer a bigger EDC knife like myself you'll get used to it in no time. The Grip is absolutley the best grip i've ever had on a knife and i've had my fair share in the past. The ONLY downside to this knife is that the saftey "switch" when it's closed is a little on the loose side for my liking but i haven't really had any major issues with it. The look and overall feel are just great and i'd highly reccomend this knife!!

bought this knife about a month ago. i don't use it for heavy duty. this is more my 'walking around with' knife. it has a very good grip and feel to it. haven't had any problems. the unlocking button also serves as a safety lock when the blade is closed. a good knife for the price. there is a definite breaking in period for the lock, but that's been true for virtually every knife i've owned. the only thing i'm a little leary about is that the piece of metal that keeps it open seems a lil light for my taste. i haven't disassembeled it so there may be more to it then one can see. will update if anything goes awry.

This is truly an amazing knife. I own many knives from various manufacturers; Cold Steel, SOG, Buck, and of course Gerber. My only complaint is it is a little heavy for wearing clipped in my pocket while wearing lightweight shorts. Other than that, this knife is quite possibly the "perfect" combat knife. Smooth, fast action, strong blade and lock-up, and an awesome grip. The pocket clip was a little tight so I had to loosen it slightly otherwise it was too hard to clip on and too slow to draw.I would highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a strong, sharp, fast-drawing knife for daily wear.

Hey,
For those of you that are LH as I am, this knife is just a little hard to open.
The blade lock is designed for RH users.
Also, if you buy it, don't be discouraged as the auto open mechanism will break
in and become smoother after about a hundred openings (deployments)
so just practice with it and keep it oiled.

Please see comment for update to this knife!

I just recently bought this knife from a big box store. At first I was very impressed with the knife. The G10 scales are sweet, the spring assisted blade deploys rapidly and easily. Some people say the safety switch feels cheap, but I disagree the switch on mine seems fine and as a total package it looks mean as heck.

I took it to work tonight and used it in place of a utility knife. In 8 hours time I had to sharpen it twice. When I sharpened it I could feel how incredibly soft the steel is. Two of the serrated teeth broke off while in use, and the rest rolled over. What super tough material was I cutting? Cardboard, plastic straps, and packing tape.

To put it into perspective, a ten cent utility blade usually lasts me a week or better. This 50 dollar piece of junk only lasted a few hours.

Sure it looks cool, but what good is a knife that doesn't cut?

I have had this knife for almost a year and use it to cut, scrape, slice, saw and anything else I need a knife for. My knife looks like crap but it still works great. None of the screws have come loose and the clip is still there A friend broke the tip but that is from him not using the knife as a knife. I am going to get a new one and use my current knife as a spare.

I had purchased my dad the Cold Steel Recon 1 for Christmas this year. I was so impressed with it that I wanted my own knife - without taking some of dad's glory away from him by getting the same one. Much like you probably did, I double took at the F.A.S.T. because of the look alone, and as I started to read reviews, I figured 'why not'. Now that I own it, it is by my side constantly. With spring assisted blade it ensures quick deployment in that moment that you may need it most - and paired with a window/glass breaker on the bottom you can't go wrong (especially if your car goes into a lake and you have no windows down at the time and have to break a window to get to the top again). My only complaint is the grip. It is not a G10 grip that allows slip resistance against water, oil, etc. Other than that, I highly encourage the purchase of this knife!

I have a D.M.F. however it is the Auto version, it is a wonderful knife it will take a severe beating and work like a charm. I used mine for purposes it was never meant for while in Afghanistan. The quality is top notch! It never failed to open and only slightly dulled on me throughout my 120 day rotation.
