I am mostly giving this 5 stars to balance the fool who gave it 3 without any knowledge of the product.

I own the sharpener and several Gerber knives. They make a nice product.

When you first look at the sharpener, you wonder how it could do a good job. The sharpening surface feels like a diamond coated nail file. But a couple of light swipes and you have a nice edge. Because of the angle, I would not put a fine knife like a Shun through it. But for the average kitchen knife, it takes a second to make a blade capable of slicing tomatoes without making a mess of things.

I probably would give the package 4 stars as it is not a must have product. But I just claimed one in the Lightning Deal, and it will make a nice gift for another knife lover.

This is a great little knife..extremely sharp out of the box..not sure how the knife sharpener will be though, I tried it with a kitchen knife without much improvement, but it was a freebie anyway..knife is great............

Nice knife overall, holds a good edge, decent grip but the pivot gets a bit jammed up (a little hard to open) in dirty conditions. Can't beat the price especially with the sharpener included.

Got this blade for my dad for everyday use. Two weeks later the fastenings holding the handle together comes loose and we lose one of them that fell to the floor. Honestly i would find a better knife or be prepared to use lock tite on the fasteners otherwise you will have just wasted your money

I love the knife that came in this kit. It opens easily with one finger, can be closed one-handed, and is as sharp as any Gerber product.

The knife-sharpener leaves something to be desired. The device is more of a hone than a sharpener, really, being made of metal with a rough, emery-board like surface, similar to the nail file one might find on a mid-range multi-tool. It does very little for dull blades, but it may help keep a fine edge on an already sharp knife.

For the money, one is better off buying the knife and getting a real sharpener or hone.

Got the knife and sharpener as a set. A few places wanted the price I paid for this set just for their sharpener. The knife is a good looking piece. Don't let the one handed serrated knob atop the knife fool you. It is one-handed, however, it is not spring assisted. With an accompanying gentle flick of the wrist, it does open fully, easily and adequately. After reading a few of the Reviews, I tried tightening the grip screws- mine were not loose.
The sharpener works absolutely extremely well. Two swipes on a fairly decent edge will bring the knive to a razor like edge. A duller edge took about 5 pulls through the device. It is a 30* edge with 500 grit diamond. I wouldn't necessarily want to carry this in my pocket. If you were hunting, it would be a great addition to your carry bag.

At the right price I don't see how you can go wrong.

Cant go wrong with a gerber!!! Not sure about the sharpener but it was free so I'll give it a shot. Had the evo jr, love it so figured I'd get the evo as well.

This is a great knife. Gerber makes a great value in a knife and this was on sale with a knife sharpener offering a great value altogether. It comes with a belt clip and is lightweight and easy, quick, smooth opening. RECOMMENDED.

I like the slim size w/pocket clip and Gerber quality. The sharpener is a real find. The folding action and medium grit diamond make it handy and quick for frequent touch-ups on the job.

As with most of my products from Gerber, this is a well built knife and well worth the money. I love the one hand easy open.
