This is a nice tool. My husband had this same one for almost 8 years and it was starting to wear out so I decided to get him a new one for Christmas. This really does last a long time. It is a great quality for the price and comes in handy more times then I can even remember!

I received this tool for Christmas about 5 years ago. I had never owned a mult-tool or given any thought to buying one. Now I never take it off and have used it thousands of times. Many times when I am with friends they ask if I have my tool on me and if they can use it.Last year on a road trip to Minnasota, I had to stop and have some work done on my 1990 Camry. I got on the freeway in Mineanapolis during rush hour traffic. I was cruising around 70 and noticed my gas pedal was stuck. I started seeing nothing but brake lights ahead of me as traffic began to slow for congestion. I did't panic, just shut the engine off, put it in nuetral and coasted to a stop on the side of the road. Traffic was now backing up behind me as far as I could see. I could have called a tow truck and waited it out. But I chose to pop the hood and take a look. At first nothing was obvious and then I noticed a bracket for the gas pedal cable was hanging loose. The mechanic forgot to put the bolts back. The only tool I had was my Gerber. With this tool I was able to remove a body bolt that fit the bracket, reinstal the bracket and continue down the road safely. I have used this tool to pull slivers out of my hand, cut 12 gauge wire, crimp wire connectors, break off finish nails, fix eye glasses, open cans, take apart power tools, wired receptacles and switches, pulled staples, opened thick cardboard boxes, scored wood paneling, cut sheetrock, cut styrofoam, cut insulation, adjust cabinet doors, open paint cans, repaired toys, tighten chair and table legs, and many other things. This is a great tool and very sturdy. I love the one handed stilleto action and the jars open to 1 3/4". I don't leave home without it.

I have owned several of this particular model of Gerber Multi-Plier.To start, the MultiPlier that is in the picture is NOT the one Amazon will send you. The knife blade is different, with bizarre changes. The Nail Nick (the open slot on the Knife blade used to move the knife out) is facing the INSIDE of the Multi-tool. This wouldn't be a problem since the old style had a hole all the way through, and made it easy to get to. This newer model however, is using the same style of Nail Nick that the scissors use. It is merely and indentation. This makes it impossible to use it to actually open up the knife blade. You have to try and dig a finger (or part of a finger) inside the multi-tool to get the knife out. Obviously Gerber thinks that their customers have fingers the diameter of a wooden toothpics and can fish between the Phillips head screwdriver and the knife blade in order to use the Nail Nick. I have uploaded pics of the actual multi-plier, with the unusable knifeblade. Notice the Nail Nick faces the INSIDE of the multi-plier and there is a solid sheet of steel on the knife blade that faces the crescent hole in the handles of the Multi-plier. I wonder if Gerber's supplier mixed up the plans and made a production run with the Nail Nick on the wrong side of the blade, and Gerber is just trying to foist off these defective parts. Or I wonder if their engineers just couldn't grasp the idea that there would be things in that side of the handle BESIDES the knife blade. "Say Boss why Do we call this a "Multi-Plier"?

I have already use the screwdriver, it is easyto access
and not hard to open. The pliers are a nice size and the quality is excellent. Pricing after shopping is good for such high end quality.
