2.0 out of 5 stars Don't last
These do the job, for a very short time. They don't last long at all if you follow the directions on the label for care. As other reviewers have stated, the older ones held up much longer and were not noisy under clothing like these are. If you have an older child wearing them, the noise may cause embarrassment. 2.0 out of 5 stars Don't last, June 22, 2010

These do the job, for a very short time. They don't last long at all if you follow the directions on the label for care. As other reviewers have stated, the older ones held up much longer and were not noisy under clothing like these are. If you have an older child wearing them, the noise may cause embarrassment. We had gotten some older ones from a consignment sale, and hoped these would serve as extras to use while the others were in process of washing. I could wash the older ones in the washer with no problem, as long as I remembered to air dry. However, this new kind only lasted through a few washes on gentle cycle, at which point they started tearing. Don't try to put them in the dryer, even on low heat, as I did this with one pair by mistake and they melted down to an unrecognizable blob (the directions for care do state to air dry). Since I haven't found any other affordable option on the market to effectively cover up gerber training pants, I guess I'm stuck with buying more of these for now. If you want yours to last, this is a lot of trouble, but I would recommend hand washing. To get rid of the smell caused by normal soiling, I've found that a pre-soaking of the cloth like leg openings in white vinegar and/or hydrogen peroxide is helpful. I gave this two stars instead of one, as it's a good way you can avoid messy leaks out in public, and your child will realize immediately when he or she is wet.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, September 7, 2009
These pants did not last. I have bought Gerber vinyl pants in the past and they are much sturdier.
These split easily at the seams and tore threw them on 1 or 2 wears.
Would not recommend at all. Waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Liked the old training pants better, April 23, 2010

These pants are thin and noisy. The plastic crinkles loudly, almost like a grocery store plastic bag! My little boy will not wear them! When I was raising my older 2 children, these plastic pants were made of a thicker and softer material, probably vinyl.

I suppose safety regulations required the change, but it is awful. When he urinates, it dribbles through the leg openings and lets his pants get wet. I will not buy these again. We are back to pull-ups for now. It was a big mess for me and traumatic for my little boy.

4.0 out of 5 stars best I've found, August 6, 2009
Although very bulky and looks to be very uncomfortable, if used in addition with the gerber training panties, seem to really do the job. These are not waterproof. They do hold enough pee close the the baby to make them realize that maybe going the the toilet would be a better idea. For my price range, this very much seem to do it's job.

5.0 out of 5 stars just fine if you have realistic expectations, August 16, 2010

These serve their purpose as long as you have realistic expectations. They are NOT going to form a watertight seal around your child's waist and legs, as some reviewers seem to expect. When used with absorbent cloth training pants, these plastic pants will keep your child's clothes reasonably dry after one or two pees, and then you will have to change the training pants. Sometimes their clothing does get wet, but with potty training, that just comes with the territory.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it..., February 4, 2010
I ordered these to go over cloth pants just in case. Being concerned about whether your child's bum looks too big is weird, and not putting them in the dryer should be pretty common sense... However, even washing them in the washer did not work out well for us. The seams on every pair split in the wash. Just on the sides, not everywhere, but it was a waste of money.

On top of that my children both hate these with a passion because they are so uncomfortable and noisy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap...., September 16, 2009

You get what you pay for...these pants are cheap and they act like disposable pants. They don't leak, however they stain really easily and you can't get them back to normal even with bleach. They disintegrate in the dryer or with hot water in the wash.

Basically, if you are just using them for urine, no problem...they really do keep in moisture.

For poop, they aren't that helpful. Especially if you have a toddler who wiggles when you try to remove these. The poop gets EVERYWHERE. I used them for about 2 weeks and then I threw them all away. (They seemed to work out okay when my son was an infant because the poop was less staining and they made less of a mess when changing a still little baby.) I bought them again for a toddler to help potty train and it was a waste of $$$.

If you have a toddler, don't waste your money unless you plan to potty train within the next few weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars On the large side, March 31, 2009

I ordered these to use while potty training my son. I couldn't wash his shoes every day when he got home from daycare. These work great but they are HUGE! He is 2 1/2 and average size and these things puff out like crazy. The elastic is snug enough to prevent dripping though so I still use them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful, better than pull ups to actually get your kid wanting to use the potty, March 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't get all of the negative reviews for this product. They do what they're meant to do.

We tried pull ups. My son went in them just like a diaper. There is no difference in how they feel.

We wanted to try just going to underwear, but the idea of him peeing on my couch or on my carpet made me feel a little more okay with the thought of him being in high school and still in diapers.

I found these, and they worked great for being able to put our son in "big boy underwear", where he could feel that he was wet, but the wetness was for the most part contained.

Of course, you will need to change your child as soon as he messes, or they will start to leak. They aren't meant to hold multiple goings. These aren't to use in place of a diaper. They just put a waterproof barrier between undies and your child's pants.

I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because they were a bit too billowy. It was hard to get all of the plastic tucked into his pants and not puffed all around the top of his waistband. Who knows, maybe if they were smaller they would leak really bad though.

Bottom line - without these, there's no way our son would be potty trained.
