4.0 out of 5 stars Improved design nice
I ordered 3 of these because my toddler still likes using these and soon I will have another self-feeding toddler. The old design had many complaints by other reviewers (pieces don't stay together or are difficult to put back together) but I just wanted to let others know that the white piece on the bottom of the plate is now STUCK ON the plate so it does not come apart...

yes, this is a waste of money. only 5+ dollars, but it could be 5 dollars saved or better spent on another product that works. my 12month old son barely touched the bowl and it came off the base and was in 3 pieces in 3 seconds. I too got it for the suction base, but that does not work. I'll be returning it, if I can.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improved design nice, May 14, 2011

I ordered 3 of these because my toddler still likes using these and soon I will have another self-feeding toddler. The old design had many complaints by other reviewers (pieces don't stay together or are difficult to put back together) but I just wanted to let others know that the white piece on the bottom of the plate is now STUCK ON the plate so it does not come apart. Now, I purchased 3 more thinking that the pieces would come apart as I only use the top 2 pieces anyway before, so the bottom piece stuck on was a surprise to me. At first I was not pleasantly surprised, but now that my son has used it a few times with the plate sucked on to his place mat I'm happy that it comes stuck on. The top piece is still challenging to put back onto the plate, but with practice it's not so bad!

My only "problem" is that Amazon does not allow us to pick the colour. I have 2 sons, and of the 3 I ordered, I got 2 pink sets!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved the curved rim, July 30, 2009
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
I love this product. Unlike the other reviewers, I don't use the suction cup. I don't have a problem with my son leaving his plate/bowl on his tray (he is 19 months). My son struggled with getting food on his spoon and the curved rim helped him immensely. He used to use his hands to help put the food on his spoon/fork, but after two meals with the plate he has figured out that he doesn't need to anymore. A matter of fact, he no longer needs my help to feed himself at all. I can give him his plate and spoon and finish doing the dishes without worrying about messes. I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for dinnerware that will help your child learn how to use a spoon/fork without the help of others or their fingers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, A Plate That Actually Sticks!, September 5, 2011
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
Gotta say, I was skeptical about trying this plate, due to all the bad reviews, but considering all the other plates/bowls with suction cups that I've tried have failed, I figured I'd give it a shot! First off, as some of the other recent reviews have mentioned, the white suction bottom no longer comes separate from the plate. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. Because it no longer comes apart, the suction cup works great....the downside, if you like to nuke your kiddo's food for 30 seconds in the microwave, you can't, or the suction cup's rubber would likely melt. This in no way was a deal breaker for me, because I'm used to most of my children's plates and bowls not being microwave friendly. The green ring seems fairly easy to get on and off, so no issues there. The one tip I'd offer is to make sure you wet the suction cup before pressing it to the highchair or table. Overall, I've tried all the other brands ("sassy", "munkin", etc.) and I have to say, as a mother of twin boys, who love to throw their plate, this is a winner!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, September 7, 2007
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
The main reason I bought this product was for the plate with the suction base. First of all, the rubber suction part comes off the plate (presumably for washing and/or for using the plate without suction), and it is next to impossible to put it back on. Second of all, the suction doesn't stick. I have tried everything, including adding moisture, and that works for about 10 seconds or until my child touches the plate at all. The plate itself is fine, and the utensils are fine, but I already had those things--I wanted a plate with a suction base. I am extremely disappointed and feel like I wasted my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars I am very busy but this products deserves a review, September 7, 2010
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
I am super busy but I feel I have been cheated and neeeed to review quickly. this plates don't work in many ways, please don't waste your money. First it has 3 parts, the suction doesn't work for even 20 seconds and the attachment to make it a flat plate doesnt stay so if you fill the plate as a "bowl" the kid can detach it easyly and thus burning themselves. I WISH I COULD DEMAND MY money back but we all know many products outhere are just crap.

1.0 out of 5 stars plate doesn't stay on the suction cup, January 18, 2012
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
Once I got the suction ring on the plate (really fiddly!) I thought we'd be in business. The suction ring stuck to the tray really well, I gave it a tug and seemed fine. Then I put my 10 month old in front of it. He whipped the plate off the suction ring in seconds - food everywhere although not all food was lost. Trying to get the plate and suction ring back together again with food on the plate however...forget it. You could dirty another plate while you put the thing back together again but by the time you get that done the food will be cold and your baby may be asleep in the high chair. The riser doesn't stay on well either. Complete waste of money! My son did love the spoon though - hence a generous 1 star. Really annoying product that doesn't work. Gerber should be ashamed.

This plate and silverware set has been a lifesaver for an independent eater. The only wish I had is that it was compartmentalized to keep some things separate, but I'm not at all sorry that I bought it! Great item!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the independance this provides!, December 5, 2011
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
We love this bowl. Little One has been using it for about two weeks now - she is 16 months. The rim helps her get food on her spoon - and she LOVES the independence of being able to feed herself.
The suction works perfectly on our high chair tray and wooden table. she has tried a few times to pull it off, but mostly she just leaves it alone - she's much more interested in eating!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful- doesn't stick, August 22, 2011
This review is from: Gerber Graduates Single Pack Lil' Trainer BPA Free Tableware Set, 3 Piece Set, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
This is an awful toddler plate. My recommendation to parents is to keep on looking. It doesn't have good suction and it literally impossible to put the pieces back together. Once I finally got all the pieces snap in together it would not stick on the high chair table.
