Bite marks on silicon spoon?,
This review is from: Gerber Graduates BPA Free 4 Pack Soft Bite Toddler Spoon, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
There are plenty of bite marks left on the spoon within the first 10 minutes of using the spoon by a 1 year old, who also chews on other silicone products (other soft spoons, toothbrush, teething toy, nipples, etc.) but leaves no mark; which makes me wonder if the tip is indeed silicone, though the Gerber customer service rep over the phone cannot explain and says that's normal sign of wearing of the coating. I don't want to use these remaining 3 soft bite spoons until my baby grows out of this phase of biting onto the spoon itself.

Perfect size for toddlers,

These are the only infant/toddler utensils that my 17 month old - who only wants to feed himself now - can use and get the majority of food from the bowl into his mouth. The handle isn't too long, so it's not awkward for him to get it into his mouth, and the spoon part isn't too deep, so he can actually get the food off the spoon while in his mouth. I can see why it's frustrating for parents trying to feed kids with it, but it really does seem to be the perfect utensil for a self-feeder.

I like the size of the spoon heads, just wish the handle was larger and cushioned for easier gripping.

Great Spoons for Feeding Baby,

We've been using these spoons for at least 6-9 months to feed our daughter. The size of the spoons is just right to feed a baby and the soft rubber coating is great for those sensitive teething gums.

They don't hold much...,

I bought these spoons since the baby spoons don't hold much liquid. These spoons aren't much better. They are wider, thick, and shallow. If I am feeding my baby food they barely hold any liquid.

Too big for a ten month old,

We used the smaller version of these spoons for quite some time but decided to try the next size up. Our ten month old son must have a small mouth because these are way too wide. He can barely fit them in his mouth.Other than the size, they are good spoons as other reviews note.

Good for 2 year old,

Great size for my almost 2 year old son. The spoon mouth has been too big for him before now. Also when he started growing teeth, he would like to chew on it and leave bite marks even now sometimes. I imagine after a while of repeated use, I'd need to replace. He is able to feed himself easier (and less messy) with this spoon when he's eating oatmeal or yogurt kind of food. If more soupy stuff then we switch to the Gerber Graduates by Nuk kiddy cutlery spoon.

Smelled and tasted of offgassing something, (vinyl?) NOT like food-grade Silicone!,

This review is from: Gerber Graduates BPA Free 4 Pack Soft Bite Toddler Spoon, Colors May Vary (Baby Product)
I usually never buy these plastic-dipped spoons because I know better, but it said silicone right there on the label, so I bought it, mostly for the short handle and rounded shape which I can't seem to find otherwise, and regretted it as soon as I opened the package. Whatever these spoons are dipped in, in the Chinese factory where they are made, gives off an odor faintly like new vinyl shower curtain, and out of curiosity I put one in my mouth. Faint nasty strong gassy toxic taste. I wondered if I could get that coating off so as to use the metal spoon beneath, but no use. The coating was too tough and hard, and couldn't be peeled of or scraped off.Whatever this plastic material is, it has no resemblance to the properties of silicone, so far as my senses can detect, and if I were independently weathly, I'd send off the spoons and have them tested at an independent lab to see just what they are coated in. Buyer beware...Gerber nowadays, is merely yet another brand owned by multinational corporate giant Nestle, and these spoons are made in Chinese factories, according to the package. Maybe it's best to chew on the spoon yourself, and see if you smell or taste anything, before offering it to a baby, no matter what the label claims.

I bought these to help with my new weightloss journey. These spoons are wonderful for helping you eat the right portion size at meals. They also help you be more conscious of taking smaller bites and eating slower.
