not the best for a surf fisherman. I really like the tool, and the one-handed snap-out of the pliers is really handy. Until, that is, a couple of grains of sand get in the tool. The little push-button latching mechanism does not like sand at all! For fresh water fishing this would be fine. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the overall strength and quality of the tool, and would have no problems recommending it for other use besides surf fishing.

Easy open, great wire cutter with replaceable inserts, all of the screwdriver and knives you need. It's on my belt all of the time and in use daily.

I bought this model to replace an earlier version of the same that I lost. I was previously in the military and had used this Gerber multitool in the field for a couple of years - it never rusted or broke. Gerber steel is very, very sharp and keeps a great edge. An excellent product.

As a contractor, I've gone through a few multi-tools. Gerber rocks. Tough, easy to use. When I broke a blade (stupid idea gone bad) they serviced it free. Lasted 4 years before I lost it, bought a new one. 100% satisfied.

Who would not purchase this item?? I use them for major events where it involves removing nails and staples off the walls, and also those tedious jobs that require screwdrivers. Fine item to have!
