If you like color, this is your book!
I like color, and I enjoy abstraction. And I also enjoy the abstractions in particular of Gerhard Richter. It is good to see the artist working back in color, and specifically, in color abstraction. Technique is revealed here, for all to plainly see. This is because the book is well done. The expense is understandable as color trials for each plate took considerable skill and effort on the part of the author and his publisher. This is an expensive and time consuming process to do well--and well done it is. This too is an important book as it also reveals the path of the artist and how he has moved so freely between monochome and color. His recent exit from Black and White into this explosion of color is a statement and a development for this artist and those who follow him. The book is highly recommended too because it is just plain enjoyable to see! |
