Germ Guardian H-3000 Digital Humidifier

I can't beleive it, but we've tried 5 models of this humidifier, and none of them worked properly. We worked with the manufacturer, Germ Guardian, and they sent us "tested" models by their "engineers" but alas, they too had malfunctions. 3 of the 5 models could not read the accurate level of humidity in the room and even after 24 hours of mist coming out, the units still read 30% humidity (the level it read as we turned it on) in our standard bedroom size room. There was no way to program them. The other 2 of the 5 had no spray control and although it was "programmed" to low, they kicked out high volumes of moisture which saturated our oriental rug! VERY frustrated with this humidifier and the company, who claims it must be our environment and "no one else appears to have this problem". How could that be? We only tried 5 models because it appeared to be the best humidifier with the most features on the market, looked great, and seemed to be the best, but after this experience, perhaps simpler is better.

Two problems: The machine did not work as expected and the company's customer service seems terrible. The machine is nice looking and has what appear to be good electronic controls. It is also extremely silent. But even though you can set the humidity control for various stages from 50% to 80%, the humidity (according to the indicator on the machine), did nothing but fluctuate between 30% and 33%, even after I ran it for several hours in the kitchen and then in the bedroom. In addition, when I set it for "sleep/auto" according to the book it is supposed to set the humidity at 8o% and stay on all night. But it turned off in the middle of the night, even though the water tank was still over half full, and in the morning the humidity still registered only 30%. I called the customer service number listed in the book to ask some questions, but all I got was a computer message saying to leave a message and I would get a call back. I did so, but after five days I received no call back. The same afternoon I sent an email to customer service asking the same questions, but after five days I received no reply. This is probably the worst customer service response I have ever had. I would certainly not recommend this machine, or this company, to anyone. BUT, maybe I just got a lemon. I hope someone else has a better experience.

The ultrasonic disk stopped working after two months of nightly use. No amount of cleaning with vinegar (as recommended) made it work again. I tried to fully dry it out, but four different kinds of mold grew on various parts of the unit! So much for the nanosilver. Don't waste your money.

My son has allergy problem and we have tried many many different humidifier. This one is the best ever!

Quiet, efficient, no filter, no mold.

I purchased this item today 01/01/10, followed the instructions step by step, and nothing. The lights came on and then the water low indicator light just flashed (yes the tank was filled). I can't wait to take this one back and get something that actually works. Believe what the other say and don't waste your money and TIME on this one.

This humidifier does a great job. It makes a comfortable environment that you can enjoy. You can feel the air turning so soft, crisp and clean. It does all that while giving a quiet operation. I definitely recommend it.

Used 2 seasons with no problems.
On the third it stopped producing steam in spite or the unit being meticulously cleaned and cared for.
Custome service never answers live and states on a recording ,"If you leave a message someone may get back to you."

I've had it a week, but it's going back. As the other reviews say, it measures the humidity level at either 30% or 33%, no matter how small the room or how long it's been running. The humidity sensor is useless.

The lights are far too bright. My bedroom looks like a disco with the thing on and the night light is almost as bright as my lamp.

Others didn't seem to have much of a problem with this, but ours is far from silent, especially when you first turn it on. It seems to quiet down some after it runs for awhile, but it is far from silent.

Look elsewhere folks. You can do a lot better for a lot less money.

I purchased this item thru Amazon.com in late 2006. Just before the 1-year anniversary of the purchase it completely stopped misting. I had followed all of the suggested usage and cleaning instructions and used water that had been thru both a whole-house softner AND a reverse osmosis system. When I spoke with the lady at the manufacturer's customer service desk, she said THEY HAD HAD QUITE A FEW SIMILAR COMPLAINTS and they shipped me another one. In far less that a year of use, the replacement did the same thing. Now, I get NO answers to my phone calls and NO call-backs to my phoned messages. In short their customer service is non missing in action! No more Germ Guardians for me and I suggest anyone else interested in an ultrasonic humidifier look for another brand!!

Mine worked for about 3 weeks. The title of my review says it all.
Not worth the money.
