Vivid Photographs. Well put together.,

This review is from: German Army Uniforms of World War II: In Color Photographs (Hardcover)
The photographs are very done well and nicely put together. There is a German/English glossary in the back that is a plus. Unfortunately with this, as with other regalia and costume books, some of the hard to find uniform descriptions that I am lookng for are not in there. I have yet to see a description or photograph of a camp commandant's uniform, which surprises me. I would like one for my writing, but I'm about to give up on finding a description of what I need.

Tons of superb photos of high-end Heer militaria!,
By Jeffery Majer (Chicago, Il USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: German Army Uniforms of World War II: In Color Photographs (Hardcover)
Well-orgaized, high-quality photos (along with numerous close-ups of prominent features) accompanied by insightful text provide an excellent sourcebook for collectors and historians. Author traces the developement of Heer uniforms throughout the course of the war in a series of plates depicting models dsressed entirely in period uniforms. Well-researched and well-presented! For it's price one of the best on the market.

Too Much Emphasis on Officers,
By A Customer
This review is from: German Army Uniforms of World War II: In Color Photographs (Hardcover)
This is a fine book except that it features only about 28 uniforms and more than half is devoted to officer uniforms. So it's a rather poor source for enlisted men's uniforms as seen on the battlefields. Maybe the title should read "German Army Officer Uniforms and Misc. Others." Also, it would've been nicer if the photos were shot not inside a studio.Young

Though containing fewer photos on previous books on this subject,As a collector, I think this book has its own value in introducing hard-to-find items, like Army summer service tunics, and General's tunic

Excellent photographic reference of German WWII uniforms.,
By Kirk D. Skaggs (kdskaggs@aol.com) (Seattle, Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: German Army Uniforms of World War II: In Color Photographs (Hardcover)
This book falls into the category of one of the best staged photographic references available. The uniforms have been assembled and displayed as realistically as possible 50 years after the event. The views of some of the selected equipment are clear and the brief text is very explanatory. Definitely add this one to your reference library.

At this point in the game I know what I want in a book about uniforms.
This really isn't it. Sure it has high quality photos and rare examples but It just isn't what Im looking for. My interest is mainly combat, camouflage and field-made items. This only has a few combat uniforms and They are very "by the book" if you will. Overall this book didn't do it for me but this authors other book about the Waffen SS is much better. Check that one out.

Interesante resumen de algunos uniformes alemanes,
This review is from: German Army Uniforms of World War II: In Color Photographs (Hardcover)
