Book Description

Schiffer Military/Aviation History June 1, 1998
The German engineer troops developed out of a branch that only developed into a fighting service arm by World War II. Thus, along with the special engineers, there were also names like Assault Engineers, Armored Engineers. Out of this wide field, this new volume of photo documentation shows some 300 photos, mostly never before published, including rare pictures of bridgelaying tanks in action, mine operations, and the construction of makeshift bridges.

5.0 out of 5 stars German Engineers 'Pioniere', January 26, 2005
This review is from: German Combat Engineers in World War II: A Photo Chronicle (Schiffer Military/Aviation History) (Hardcover)
This book is a photo collection of German combat egineers. Most of the photographs in the book I have never seen previously, all printed on nice heavy gloss paper. The collection of photographs is nice, but limited in subject. The vast majority of them deal with bridge laying operations in their many forms. Highlights are a decent amount of photos of the rare bridge laying tanks, and some of the rocket launching halftracks. Overall a good photo book worth getting for those interested in German Engineers.
