The person who said this book is put together well will be in for a big surprise if he uses it very much. The binding is cloth-textured paper and the pages are merely glued in--although this short-cut is cleverly concealed. In short, the book is not permanent and will not bear much usage.

That BIG complaint aside, this book is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I have no complaint at all about the text or the pages. Since most who order this book are seeking to improve either their English or German, they should not mind the skimpy textual and other notes being added as an appendix.

I really wanted to love and USE this parallel Bible, but the binding is much too flimsy for the latter. I see now that I should have waited until a better binding (with sewn-in pages) was available. Perhaps I got some sort of book-club edition with a poor binding--and the other reviewers got something different and better. If so, that is my bad luck--and I remove all my negative statements and change my rating to five stars. All I know is that with the book I have, the boards will very soon crease and eventually tear at the folds, and the pages will soon be falling out if I use this book as I intended.

I was quite happy when I received this Bible. It had good craftsmanship and will be a nice addition to my collection. I thought it was going to be larger then it was but I'm OK with that. The type is a bit small but then again I prefer larger type if I had a choice. I used to speak German fluently and I always wanted a German Bible. This book is the best of both worlds, German and English together.

I bought this book as a gift for my son who attends German school. But I found it so interesting I bought a copy for myself. It is totally functional for study, great for learning German, accessible, and sturdy. The German and English scriptures are on the same page side by side. This Christmas we will read together the scriptures aloud of the historical birth of Jesus the Christ in both languages.

I'm learning German and this is an excellent book for my studies. Easy to read and the english translation is almost word for word. Use this bible to expand your mind and save your soul at the same time.

The 1984 revised Luther Bible is *the* classic, orthodox translation in the German language, while the 2001 English Standard Version is the best English translation available. Couple the two together and you have a real winning tool for those who need quick access to both languages, especially for purposes of comparison.

Both translations are faithful to the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, following the principle of formal equivalence in translation. Therefore, within the limits found in any translation, you can be confident as you read either the Luther Bible or the ESV that you are truly seeing the original text as it is.

It's great to read the Bible anyways. And if you can do it in two languages it's even better :-)

This book is exactly what I was looking for and more. I took German in college but have forgotten most of it. I have always loved the German language and wanted to get back into it. I currently read the Bible everday, so this was the best of both worlds. The text is very easy to understand, and it is great to have the English text immediately adjacent to the German for comparison.

I really like this bible. It is simply the ESV and Lutherbibel and nothing more or less. The binding on my bible is just fine, very sturdy, I even wiggled it around a bit because I was a little concerned after reading 2 comments that mentioned the binding. The book isn't much thicker than a regular bible and is not to heavy to take to church. The pages are thin, yes, but that is in most bibles, this isn't a study bible you just mark around in anyway, but that is just my opinion. They have done a great job of putting the bible together, matching each verse right next to each other for easy comparison. Thank you for such a wonderful bible. I love amazon for making it affordable. I speak both languages and I love it. I would give it 10 stars if there were that many to give.

I like the format of the Bible and the way the verses are lined up makes it easy to see where you are from German to English. Its a lot of fun figuring out what the German says by comparing it to the English.

I really love my German/English Parallel Bible. Having the verses in both languages right next to each other is a big plus. I think this Bible is awesome.
