4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting poncho, August 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: German" Flectar" Camo Ripstop Poncho (Misc.)
This poncho is a mix of good and bad things. Personally, the pros outweigh the cons and is a product that has a shot to prove itself.

Pros
Lightweight- says the shipping weight is three pounds, I would say that it is lighter. Maybe one or two. Those that are concerned about the weight they carry can be rest assured
Rip-stop- you can always be rest assured that if you...rip your poncho it won't continue to rip. Unfortunately, a poncho that is torn greatly diminishes the effectiveness of the poncho. The benefits of rip-stop is that it does make it tear resistant
Provided Stuff Bag- I am on the fence about it. It is really gimmicky and mediocre in construction. The drawstring closures hardly work and rip the stitching if you pull too hard. What I like about it is that the poncho is stuffed into something that could easily fit the side pocket of cargo shorts/pants or a bag. It is roughly 8x7x2 (when stuffed) that could easily be compressed to a third of that with little effort.
Additional Uses- Poncho "only" was the last thing on the designers mind. They were planning on it being used for a little bit of everything. A tent, floor mat, etc. This has button snaps to connect to other ponchos to provide a myriad of options. The grommeted corners are easily used for stakes and other things.
Noise- It is noticeably more quiet than the normal plastic ponchos, which is nice from a tranquility aspect or any "ninja" activities you might want to do.
Flecktarn- Flecktarn is one of the more difficult popular camo's out there, so options are very limited for my favorite military camo. Thank you Fox for making this.

Cons
Somewhat Expensive- At $30 this is one of the most expensive ponchos I have come across. Admittedly, I don't go chasing after ponchos all that often so it would be easy to say there are probably many more expensive ones out there. I have seen ponchos upwards of $50 but a majority are your $2 throwaways and commonly $10 and even $20.
Length- It would have greatly benefited if it was 3-6 inches longer. Now I am taller than the Average Joe, but not unreasonably so. Expect it to be at knee height give or take 2-3 inches.
Made in China- It makes me question the actual construction and quality of the product, as with all Chinese products.
Lightweight- even this is a huge pro, this is a con. From experience, lightweight are weaker than your heavyweight counterparts. I am not sure about the true durability of the product. It says the product is waterproof, there is always the chance that the p/u coating skipped over the product, applied incorrectly, or would wear off eventually.
