German Helmets 33-45 by Goodapple & Weinand,
By zavilladavies435@aol.com (Mountain Ash, South Wales) - See all my reviews
This review is from: German Helmets 1933 1945 (vol. 001) (Paperback)
The German steel helmet is one of the most collectable of all war artifacts today.Ronald Weinand and terry Goodapple describe in detail the thirty two different types of "Stahlhelm" of that era. A comprehensive section dedicated to helmet decals illustrates the more common and the most obscure and a sizeable chunk goes over to the helmet and liner constructions. Paint finishes & chinstraps are covered......I defy anyone to read this far through the book and still have a question! The finale' is the most comprehensive photo album I have seen yet, with an example of just about every model, finish and decal mentioned. BUT......the book could do with a few colour photos to liven it up and prove to the reader that German steel helmets come in something other than 256 million shades of grey! Be aware that 50% of the book is a Polish version! |
