5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Looking Helmet!
After a return of a previously ordered helmet (smaller size), this helmet fit very well. The helmet, it seems, runs a size smaller. It is an impressive looking helmet with quality throughout. I would gladly recommend it and rate 5 stars!

3.0 out of 5 stars Similar helmet sold by many others
This exact helmet is sold by multiple vendors, both here and on ebay- made in china and sold by many others, as so many things are on the internet.

I have one that I purchased a year or so ago. I ordered a 2XL, which is what I wear in a full face helmet, and it is a little too big on me- after trying on some half helmets at walmart of all places, I determined...

3.0 out of 5 stars Similar helmet sold by many others, September 2, 2010
This exact helmet is sold by multiple vendors, both here and on ebay- made in china and sold by many others, as so many things are on the internet.

I have one that I purchased a year or so ago. I ordered a 2XL, which is what I wear in a full face helmet, and it is a little too big on me- after trying on some half helmets at walmart of all places, I determined I should have gotten an XL.

At any rate...I think these are good looking helmets, I don't think they look overly large and they are a fairly faithful reproduction of a german helmet unlike some of the others that are being sold.

My number one complaint with this helmet is the garbage chinstrap and D-rings. First off, the chinstrap is too narrow, I would have preferred something that didn't feel like it was cutting into my throat all the time. Second, the D-rings seem to be made for a wider strap. When you cinch down the chin strap, the D-rings end up all cockeyed and make it difficult to loosen the chinstrap when you want to take the helmet off. For the same reason, the D-rings also never stay oriented in the direction they're supposed to be.

I really like the look of the helmet, but I may have to go with a different type when I order the correct XL since nobody seems to have one with a decent chin strap on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great look... good value, November 22, 2005

I ordered this helmet for its design and the fact it is DOT approved for California highways. Great for putt-ing around town, but also does well at highway speeds. Get that classic look and a great value. Has d-rings for fastening, but a trip to the local motorcycle shop I install quick release clips.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice heavy duty DOT approved "Wehrmacht" replica helmet; tends to look rather large due to ample interior padding, November 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My helmet looks very nice in it's simple understated flat black finish. Interior padding seems comparable to my Bell Drifter in terms of protection and snugness. I originally purchased a "Large", but found that to be a bit loose on my head and exchanged for a "Medium" (Jafrum's size exchange program for their helmets works very well as I simply filled out the included form, returned the helmet to Jafrum's address using the box it arrived in, and in about 3 weeks time had my new smaller sized helmet delivered to my door; perfect).

The only caveat I have, and others have jovially referred to this, is the helmet tends to look rather over-sized when I'm wearing it (the first thing that comes to mind is truly "Dark Helmet" from Spaceballs). The larger appearance isn't ridiculous per se, but myself and others have at least noted it. Obviously the increased dimensions is due to the larger interior of the helmet to provide the ample padding protection for DOT approval. So, while this might not look as "cool" as the novelty "Wehrmachts" while wearing it, it will definitely provide the protection "toy" helmets will not (and at the end of the day, the protection capability is what matters most, in my opinion anyway).

5.0 out of 5 stars STYLIN!!, September 18, 2008

I totally dig this helmet. It's got a cool shape and it's sturdy. I didn't want one of those "novelty" helmets. I admit that it's a little bigger on your head than a novelty helmet would be, but I chock it up to the fact that it's actually a DOT certified helmet.

Definitely worth the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Helmet -- gets me noticed, May 14, 2008
This review is from: German Helmets - DOT German Motorcycle Helmet 115 Matt (Misc.)
As if riding a 1947 Vespa in olive-drab green weren't enough, I also wear this helmet. My roommate was worried I'd get beaten up; I thought people would be amused. I was right.

It's a good-looking helmet and very well-made. It's also fairly light weight considering how substantial it is. A word of warning, however -- it is much thicker than what you might expect -- think Darth Vader-sized as opposed to trim barely-bigger-than-your-head like you see in the movies.

I see that someone hasn't received what they ordered from Jafrum, and I feel bad for them. I received it faster than I expected, actually, ready to go the moment it came out of the box.

1.0 out of 5 stars Chinese Crap, October 8, 2011

I am sorry, but a company with a name like Iron Horse should not be selling crap from China. This exact helmet can be found by street vendors, vendors at motorcycle shows, etc. Not too many good products come out of China and this is one that doesn't make the list. Vendors who sell these pay less than $10 a piece for them in bulk. This isn't an "Iron Horse" product.

1.0 out of 5 stars German Helmets - DOT German Motorcycle Helmet 115 Matt, June 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Product ok and will give you the look you want (little bulky). BUT....beware, the sizes are off from what Jafrum advertises. I bought a XXL and it fit more like a Large. Per the size chart I was on the high end of an XL and the low end of an XXL. I bought the XXL to be safe. STILL WAS TOO SMALL! If you can find the right size, it's a cheap helmet. Hopefully you wont have a problem, because Jafrum's customer service is VERY poor. When I called about the size problem I was told it was a generic chart that works for most people. I told them that I measured the inside of the helmet and it was way off. They just made excuses and answered in nothing but generalities. They offered NO resolution other than me having to prepay to ship this back. THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE A RETURN SHIPPING LABEL! I asked if they had another helmet in this style, possibly by another manufacturer that would fit correctly and I was told the CSR didn't know and did not want to help me get a replacement at all.

Overall....Product ok, but the size chart is off. If you are going to buy any gear....Jafrum is not the easiest to deal with.
