Book Description

June 11, 1999 Luftwaffe At War (Book 10)
As the war turned against the Third Reich, the introduction of jet aircraft represented Germany's last hope in the struggle for control of the skies. Despite early success, most German jets were destined to a short, violent life in the face of Allied air superiority. Period photographs from archives and private collections are accompanied by detailed captions to tell the story.

3.0 out of 5 stars A very good image reference from WWII German jets, November 12, 2000

This review is from: German Jets (Luftwaffe At War) (Paperback)
This small book (just 72 pages) consists basically of a collection of (very good) pictures, with its respective legends, most of them unpublished until now (at least in the books I got). The stile is similar to "Aircraft of The Luftwaffe Fighter Aces", from Bernd Barbas's, made only over pictures and practically without technical text. Noteworthy is the initial section, with WWII original color pictures (some pictures are without credits but I guess they are from the author or from the famous Jeff Ethell's private collection). A small four pages introduction summarizes the action of Luftwaffe jets in the end of the War. The pictures, most in color close-ups, are an e-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t reference for modelers. As this book is part of a collection, which covers the Luftwaffe action over all fronts, I recommend the purchase of all of them, except if you are specialized in German jets only (in this case, I recommend also the volume 6 of this collection, "Defeat in The West", from Mike Spick). Note: Although all these qualities, I ranked this book only 3 stars because it is edited based only in photographs, without any other technical information. As just an image bank, it could be, perhaps, a five star one).
