For the price, this is a really good introduction to Germany today.There are three main sections - the first is "The Making of Germany", and sketches the historical development of Germany and the German language. The second is "Creative Germany", and outlines the contributions made by Germans in the fields of art, music, literature, philosophy, etc. The last is "Living in Germany Now", and deals with daily life, political structure, administrative units, daily life, education, and more. It does not presuppose any prior knowledge, and covers a lot of territory, some areas sketchily, others in more detail. Highly recommended!
