Aviation history at its best,
By Don Benson (Redlands, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: German Secret Flight Test Centers to 1945 (Hardcover)
This book is a very detailed history of German flight test centers beginning as far back as World War I. It is written by a team of writers, many of whom participated in one way or other in the testing programs. For the aviation buff, the detail is terrific, including lists of specific planes, pilots and crew, and tests conducted. For those with a more general interest in German history or aviation, the 300 odd photographs alone are satisfying and stimulating.
Some of the writers are better than others and, of course, it is a translation; but the wealth of personal experience and detail more than make up for these minor shortcomings. I highly recommend this book. |
