As an intermediate learner of German, I have found the book very useful in that it provides parallel translation as you go (the left page is in German and the right one in English). The translation is superb. The selected stories are finest examples of the contemporary German literature, Let the book carry you away and polish your German at the same time! :o)

This ebook is worthless for Kindle users.

There are many options to make this an useful book for Kindle owners, but the solution from Amazon is the worst possible one.

This little book is a collection of charming short stories. One can either read them or study them closely to enlarge vocabulary and learn to understand grammer. It is also a good exercise in the use of synonyms.

I read the other review and after I read almost through the book I decide to write as a learner who've actually read this book. Beware of what others say, truth is if you are an intermediate learner, you're not gonna be able to read this book in any enjoyable way, or maybe in any way. On the other hand if you cannot go on or through with reading it, don't feel bad about yourself just because some other intermediaters get along with it like an easy buddy. Just put this book aside till your reading skill develops, and then you'll read it in an enjoyable way, or at least a comfortable way.

As regard the stories themselves, they range from great to good to mediocre to irritating. Translations are in general good for its purpose though I seldom refer to them.
