A new way to look at germs,
By A Customer
This review is from: Germs on their Fingers! / ¡Gérmanes en tus manos! (Paperback)
This book is imaginative and creative. I loved it and I would recommend all parents read this to your child to get them to wash their hands before coming to the dinner table. Just amazing.

What a great mamadrama!,
By Joy Rankin (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Germs on their Fingers! / ¡Gérmanes en tus manos! (Paperback)
This enchanting educational experience communicates to children of all ages the importance of washing their hands. The rhythmic prose is a delight to read; the illustrations are bright and bold, and questions in bubbles - a "bubblequest" - engage readers throughout the book. "Germs on their fingers" is a first of its kind in heightening multicultural awareness: read the book front to middle, and it's in English; flip it over and read it back to middle, it's in Spanish! By asking the reader to "decide upon which worry your action should take," "Germs" fosters community involvement. With "Germs on their fingers", author Wendy Wakefield Ferrin has made a promising debut on the "Mamadrama" scene. I highly recommend this book to parents, teachers, child care providers, even restaurant owners. It's wonderful!

Not at all what I had hoped,

This review is from: Germs on their Fingers! / ¡Gérmanes en tus manos! (Paperback)
This book started with a cute premise but it fell apart in the middle and completely collapsed at the end. I must be missing something.

Germs on their fingers,
By Reader From Denver "reader_from_denver" (Denver, CO, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Germs on their Fingers! / ¡Gérmanes en tus manos! (Paperback)
I returned this book. I suspect the author wrote it for herself, not for young children. The rhymes are forced, the pictures inadequate, and the premise self-serving. That is, the author advertises her posters and website. Really, what little kid wants to read a book about the life of a carpool mom? - Reader in Denver

Good when paired with a lesson,
This review is from: Germs on their Fingers! / ¡Gérmanes en tus manos! (Paperback)
This book alone is not recommended to teach children about proper hand hygiene. However, paired with a thoughtful lesson brings out the effectiveness of the book. It is creative but needs additional support to fully teach children how to best act responsibly in terms of infection control. A hygiene game or other infection control activity will draw children into this book and make the lessons meaningful.
