A 1970s Brazilian funk gem,

This review is from: Gershon King Combo, v.1 (1977) (Audio CD)
Gerson King Combo"Gerson King Combo, v.1" (Polydor, 1977) ------------------------------------ This is a real lost-gold nugget, one of the best, truly funkiest albums of the "Black Rio" Brazilian soul scene of the late 1970s and early '80s. Gerson King Combo (this was his stage name, with "Combo" as his last name...) was a real funkmeister, deeply under the spell of Bootsy-era James Brown. This album was Combo at his best, and album well worth looking for! (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue Guide To Brazilian Music) |
