A nice tool box at an affordable price. I have no complaints. I knew the imported wood and conctruction would not be as nice as my dad's 1948 Gerstner. It is hard for me to justify the cost of a new USA made Gerstner, but this imported product allowed me to get a very servicable wooden tool box.

While I have no doubt that the American made Gerstner is superior in quality, I have no complaints with this one. I like it so much, I ordered a second one for a gift just minutes after it arrived. I intend to use it to store my coins, pocket knives, and other collectibles. How can you beat $100 plus free shipping?

This is a quality product, it is well thought out and easy to use. I like the fact that I can lock my tools when I must leave them, easily and securely. The drawers are a perfect fit for all the small tool used in watchmaking, and it looks very classy.

I don't know why I like knockoffs of these gerstner tool boxes,this is the 4th one I have bought and the nicest one.This is not however heirloom quality like the american original.the construction is not a replica but simply produced overseas.Many aspects of it are streamlined or changed to appeal to a different cliental with different needs,and slighter budgets.Though this box mimics the original appearance,and is solidly and nicely built,one should not expect it to be kicking around the planet 30 years from now after a wonderfull career carrying heavy delicate and expensive tools from here to there through hard knocks thick and thin.It is however IMO well worth the price tag,and if treated well within its obvious limitation,should serve the owner well.I too am pleased with this purchase,though I agree that those who expect a american made gerstner would do well not to venture here.

Mine arrived all busted up. The hinges were torn out of the wood, and the finish was scratched by the run-away screws. Also, the drawers are looser and flimsier than I had hoped. I returned it and in their high-quality way, Amazon gave the full refund I was due.

I'd rather have a quality built American made Gerstner 30 years old than this display of poor craftsmanship built with Chinese slave labor. It's a sad comment on the state of America when a company like Gerstner would allow their image to be tainted with inferior products.

Here are the things I noticed within 5 minutes after taking it out of the box:

Key lock does not work

Drawers are not fitted properly

Front cover does not slide freely

Name plate (cheap quality) crooked by 1/16" and off center by 1/4"---Stevie Wonder could have seen this one from across the room!

I am extremely disappointed.

I was so unhappy with the last one I bought here, why should I expect this larger one to be any better. A real (made in this country) Gerstner is a better investment.

This is a beautiful work of art! Wonderful craftsmanship! Intelligently designed! This will be something to pass on to children and grandchildren some day. It is beautiful enough to display in the living room yet durable enough for real use. I wasn't sure about spending all that money, but now that it's here, it is worth every penny! I'm really glad I spent the extra for this!
