...excellent performance. The music is extraordinary. The singers understand it stylistically. The tuning is within acceptable parameters. Nonetheless, I don't relish it. The bare voices are too harsh, and the vocal blend just doesn't swoon with erotic longing as these madrigals by the mad genius Gesualdo should. I might like the recording better, I admit, if I hadn't just listened to an incomparable CD of similar madrigals by the ensemble La Venexiana. As it is, Ensemble Arte Musica doesn't match up and this CD will find a place on a back shelf.
