Borealis Records will release a new CD from Newfoundland singer/songwriter Ron Hynes in May. The new recording titled "Get Back Change" contains 14 new songs from the acclaimed songwriter and features guest appearances from Sylvia Tyson, Cindy Church and Jenny Whiteley among others. The album was produced by veteran producer Paul Mills (Stan Rogers, Tanglefoot, Aengus Finnan) and is Hynes' first release with a label since leaving EMI Music in 1997. It was with EMI that Hynes released two of his most popular albums "Cryer's Paradise" and "Face To The Gale."

I had to write this review becuse I saw the other one was only 4 stars.
The Maritime's Ron Hynes is in elite company as one of the best singer/songwriters on the planet Earth. His writing is profound. His stories are majical as is his music and voice. Do not delay, buy this CD and anything else you can get your hands on by Ron Hynes. If you're in Toronto or Nova Scotia go hear him sing & play, you will be witnessing one of the very best.

I recently saw Ron Hynes perform at a club in Newfoundland. He was brilliant. It was just him and a bass player. His songs and singing are unique. I don't think this record does him justice, but it is worth buying just to hear some of his songs. In the future, I hope he'll record something more stripped down and closer in spirit to his live performace I saw.
