5.0 out of 5 stars another reason why believers should appreciate U2
I'm not quite done reading this book, but I can tell you it's a MUST read for anyone who has ever been touched by U2's music. You know it's a good book when you feel compelled to pick up a pencil and underline key words and thoughts Garrett puts in front of you. can't say too much. This is a guy who, for the most part, has hidden his light under a basket, has been friends with the world and has set himself up as an idol. Then silly christians try to find any morsel of hidden christian meanings in the songs, crazy! It's like the rich young ruler perhaps, give it up, Bono. You can't have it both ways. Get off the fence.

I'm not quite done reading this book, but I can tell you it's a MUST read for anyone who has ever been touched by U2's music. You know it's a good book when you feel compelled to pick up a pencil and underline key words and thoughts Garrett puts in front of you. This book is especially meaningful to me as a practicing Episcopalian living and growing in my faith on a daily basis. U2 and books like this have really motivated me to "get up off my knees" and be mindful and responsive to the needs of others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light on organization, heavy on content, May 12, 2010

I've read most every book about U2 and the Christian faith. While I wish Garrett would've done a better job of organizing the content of the chapters (the first one really floats around a lot), this book is chopped-full of good, meaty stuff when it comes to U2's music and mission and Christianity. The third chapter on Social Justice is especially powerful; and for it alone is worth the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars U2 unveiled, November 27, 2010

This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in U2 lyrics and spirituality. Often Christians wonder about certain U2 lyrics and this book goes a long way in sharing the belief foundation of the group in relation to their lyrics. Particularly enlightening is the message about the importance of "community" in the world and the strong call to action. This book makes you want to "Get on Your Boots" and get about the work of righteousness in the world. Be Good!

My fiance is a big u2 fan. When I saw this book I knew he'd love it. I got this as part of his Christmas present. I looked through this book before wrapping it up and I cannot wait to read it myself. It is very touching and informative on how the band is more than just a rock icon. They are touching the world with thier belief and love for our nation. Great read!
