This movie premiered on the Disney Channel in 2002, as part of their Disney Channel Original Movies campaign. I have seen 90% of all of these Disney Channel Movies and I love them all! 1.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Ghastly film
If you have read the novel The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin you know why I mentioned great book. The plot revolves around many un-forgettable, original, hysterical characters who are thrown into a game that's part murder mystery, part "Who Wants to be a Millinonaire?" The players are challenged to figure out who killed multi- millionaire, Sam Westing. It is a-must read as...

This movie premiered on the Disney Channel in 2002, as part of their Disney Channel Original Movies campaign. I have seen 90% of all of these Disney Channel Movies and I love them all! But this certain one stands above the rest. This movie stars Lindsay Lohan, as Lexy Gold a spoiled rich girl form New York who helps run her school newspaper. She also finds the best gossip and reveals it to everybody through the gossip column, even if its hurtful to someone's rep. She takes a picture of two of her teahcers holding hands and definently in a love affair. This picture is posted in the local paper and the teacher goes missing........ and it is up to lexy and her new freind Jack (Bug Hall from "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves") to find them. They go through many adventures using awesome gadgets and amazing spy skills. Also starring: Brenda Song (Phil of the Future, Stuck in the Suburbs), and Ian Gomez (The Drew Carey Show)

4.0 out of 5 stars High scores for this one..., May 10, 2005

A fun, lighthearted story of a teenage reporter wanna-be who finds herself--and her classmates--in the middle of a murder mystery. It's a fun movie to watch with your kids, not overly sugary. The story is well-written and Lindsay Lohan is really a pleasure to watch! As a parent of a pre-teen, I highly recommend it!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Get a Clue (DVD)
Love Lindsay Lohan Lohan, Love Disney Channel, Love this Movie! This movie is part of the Disney Channel Original Movie series. It stars teen sensation Lindsay Lohan and rising star Brenda Song. . Lexy (Lohan) plays a teen reporter for her school and her gossip leads to bad things. Her teacher goes missing and it's up to Lexy and her friends to crack the case and find him. The dvd also feature's an alternate ending and awesome previews for other Disney Channel Original Movie's (DCOMS). The only problem is they don't include behind the scenes and the Simon and Milo music video. Other than that the dvd is so fun to watch at a sleep over or just sit around with your family.

Stars-
Lindsay Lohan (The Parent Trap and Mean Girls)
Brenda Song (Stuck in the Suburbs and Disney's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody)
Bug Hall (Little Rascals and The Big Green)

I know this is a Disney movie for a certain audience but I have to say I rented it one night and really liked it. My reading choices are all very serious so I like a break when I put on a dvd. I appreciated the charm of this movie but what I noticed that I like a lot is how it has the feeling of a play in the writing. I felt like I was watching a decent high school production of a story. The acting is quite good in the context of this movie, I think Brenda Song has a long future as a comedic talent. It took me a couple of viewings to figure out why the city scape looked familiar, it's Toronto!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best DCOM ever!!, February 19, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Get a Clue (DVD)
I looooooovvvvveeeee Lindsay Lohan!! This is one of my favroite movie's that I grew up with. Lindsay is probably one of the best teen actress'. She can act (The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls), sing (Speak, A Little More Personal) and dance which we saw in her movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. She is the total package at least i think so. This is her third movie that she ever did and it is part of the Disney Channel Original movie's franchise. I highly reccommend this dvd because it is packed with laughs, mystery and a cast of teen stars of today! Too bad there are'nt a lot of bonus feature's like the music video by Simon and Milo! The cast includes Bug Hall (Little Rascals, Mortuary) and Brenda Song (t.v.'s Suite Life of Zack and Cody) and of course Lindsay Lohan. Here's a list of other great DCOM's on dvd: The Cheetah Girls, The Kim Possible Movie: So The Drama, Cadet Kelly, The Even Stevens Movie, Halloweentown/Halloweentown 2: Kalabar's Revenge, Halloweentown High and The Proud Family Movie

5.0 out of 5 stars Lindsay Lohan is A Beauty!!!, October 8, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Get a Clue (DVD)
Who ever wrote Lindsay was a Fugly Brat is one. She is so beautiful, and yeah the way she dresses in this movie is'nt great. But she did'nt get to choose them. Most people choose her over Hilary Duff. At least Lindsay Lohan's movie are known and better too. I reccommend this dvd and all the other she has. Herbie: Fully Loaded is a great family film. Sure Herbie makes faces and that's cheesey but it is still a great film. I adore all of Lindsay's movie's and I am sure others do too. This movie stars Lindsay Lohan (Freaky Friday, Mean Girls), Bug Hall (Little Rascals, The Big Green) and, Brenda Song (Stuck in the Suburbs, The Ultimate Christmas Present). It is Clueless meets Murder She wrote. Lexy (Lohan) is a school newspapaer reporter who writes a gossip collum. She gets her teacher in trouble and he goes up missing. It is up to Lexy, Jennifer (Song) and Jack (Hall) to get a clue and solve this mystery. It is a family film and people of all ages will love it. I highly reccommend it.

Other Great Disney Channel Original Movies on dvd-

Cadet Kelly
The Cheetah Girls
The Even Stevens Movie
Miracle in Lane 2
Under Wraps
Halloweentown/ Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
Halloweentown High
The Prod Family Movie (coming soon to dvd)

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Get a Clue! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
It is a-must read as far as children's literature goes.
The movie, Get a Clue, is NOT a must-see! As much of the plot is the same, the characters's personalities and habits are completely changed and some characters are dimenished. After reading the book in the fifth grade my class watched this "adaption." We were told to find the difference between the book and the movie, and of course paying very close attention noticed 430 errors or so, and none of them particularly help the story. With almost no similarities and a dry cast, this movie should have never seen the light of day.
The only people who need to "Get A Clue." are the writers of this film. READ THE BOOK!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars File it in your "bauble department"!, December 16, 2004

This review is from: Get a Clue! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Helloooo, this is Lindsay Lohan, not the Westing Game!

I feel compelled to submit this review, because so far Get a Clue only has reviews for the Westing Game "Get a Clue" movie, which is totally different and which I haven't seen -- this director is Maggie Greenwald, and this year is 2002 (Westing Game "Get a Clue" is 1997 Terence Winkless).

This is a Disney channel movie, and since it's apparently not available anymore on video, I'm glad I have a copy I taped off tv. It's not a great movie, and in fact, the first time I watched it I completely forgot about it, so when I found it on an unlabeled tape this year I watched it again, only occasionally recognizing elements by which I knew I'd seen it before. The mystery plot is weak and somewhat confusing the first time you view it. For some reason, however, I now find this film bizarrely compelling.

Lexy Gold wants to be a reporter like her Dad, and gets her chance to do some real investigating and reporting (instead of her usual fluffy advice column in her high school paper) when a teacher at her school goes missing. She teams up with her friends and in the end everything works out happily (of course).

This is not Lindsay Lohan's best work, but she's always likeable. And Bug Hall costars -- Scout Bozell all grown up -- ha!ha! I thought the actor who played Gabe did a skillful job, but if you're not watching closely you'll miss his glances at Lexy and Jack, his perfect laugh-and-cover for Jennifer's Charlie's Angels comment, and so forth. For some reason, Amanda Plummer, whom I usually like, is annoying and unconvincing here, but the other teacher (who goes missing) is surprisingly sympathique as both a teacher and a materialistic banker. Detective Potter, with and without the knobs, and Mrs. Petrossian are somehow comic and reassuring at the same time.

I aboslutely love the cut from the exercise tape to Brooklyn, the chess set in the sun, and the comic romp around the hotel with wacky camera angles and funny music. I think this (the Pete&Pete-ish sensiblities of Maggie Greenwald -- I'm a big Pete & Pete fan) are what make this film enjoyable for me.

I also like the cultural crossover this film makes between diverse and quaint Brooklyn and the elite and chic Manhattan prep school. Characters from both worlds are introduced to the other, and are surprised to find depth and value there. I think this is really the point of the movie; the homeless impersonator further emphasizes the social class theme.

The Disneyesque little-kid humor in the cake and faux spa are clumsily done and annoying, but I put up with them for more subtle humorous touches throughout.

FYI I'm a 30-year-old teacher who never tires of kid's lit and movies, as long as my life is balanced with some rigorous academic and truly beautiful lit, too.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Get a Clue! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I watch the movie before I read the book and when I finaly got to read the book a year after I saw the movie I instantly thought Get a Clue. I only give it four stars because I don't think it was the best maching to the book but they did do a pretty good job.
