Where's the beef?,

Like from the old Wendy's commercials. I looked inside and didn't find much meat, substance. I found the book entertaining, read it cover to cover in 2 settings. She talked a lot about the Transgender magazine she use to publish; I'm sure ground breaking in its day, but the personal experiences like disappointments and failures where not in depth. Not a real deep, thought provoking emotionally enlightening book. A few good tid bits of advise based on her experiences, but note an inspiring story nor a much advice on dressing. Mostly fluff, granted I got the feeling she has a great attitude toward life, but I like books that deliver on many levels. This was not it.

This book is not well written, has many, many typos, with sentences that make very little sense and is an over all difficult read. The writing is very poorly done, in some cases grammatically incorrect and sloppy. It is poorly edited, if at all. The author claims to be a writer but there is no proof offered in any form in the book. If she is a professional writer (and editor as one is not listed in the book) then I'm the Pope.
Not much is offered on the author's deep experience as a crossdresser, her struggles, insight, emotions or fears. The chapter on the magazine "Girl Talk" could easily be taken out as it is little more the a boring "to do list" what the author did for each issue of the magazine with lots of name dropping of people most readers have never heard of. All in all there was very little in the book I, as a crossdresser, could relate to.

Get Dressed! was very interesting. I used to get the magazine before they stopped and always wondered what happened. As always each person have a story about how they came out and why and I think everyone is interesting. Most interesting is what she did once she came out. Gina explains about the pains and pleasures of running various businesses and what she learned for them. And what she is doing now.
