I had the pleasure of meeting Carol Grace Anderson a few months ago at a conference where we were both speaking. I had given a breakout session that morning, and she had given a keynote during the conference lunch. Since we were both "done" for the day, I had the opportunity to visit with her and another speaker from the conference. The positive attitude and zest for life that Carol possesses is infectious and I left her presentation and our subsequent meeting Fired Up!

I waited a couple of months to work her book "Get Fired Up Without Burning Out" into my reading schedule. Reading my signed copy brought back her passion for living and it was a quick motivating read that encourages one to live a fired up life. It's definitely a book I'd recommend for a quick boost of motivation combined with some practical advice for living.

Some of the messages in "Get Fired Up Without Burning Out" are common enough in many "self-help" type books. However, Carol puts her own unique spin and shares personal stories to emphasize the lessons. I particularly enjoyed the story about losing her creamy beige Volkswagen beetle with a chocolate-brown interior. I liked that she admitted she was mad and held a grudge against the NYPD for a long time, but then admitted to herself that she was the one who was wrong all the way. This story was in a chapter that focused on accountability and determining right from wrong and doing what's right.

The book has many quotes and stories, some personal to Carol, others more widely known to those that follow success and motivational stories. All of them focusing on living a more joyous and fulfilling life. Lessons such as living in the present, improving your life, slowing down for what's really important, and the importance of love and how to give and get all the love you need.

I enjoyed "Get Fired Up Without Burning Out." It was a quick read and it reminded me of things I already knew and provided me with different ways to look at some things, along with suggestions I will implement into my own life to live fired up. I mention that some things I already knew, and many readers will know some things too. Just like we know many things we read in various books. But just because we have read or heard something before does not mean we are putting it into practice. Books such as this give you a boost to continue to strive for excellence and not forget the really important things. If you are like me, sometimes you forget these in your daily actions, so getting a reminder helps keep you on the path. That is why I am such an advocate of reading positive magazines such as Success and books such as "Get Fired Up Without Burning Out." They help keep you on the path toward greatness and a fulfilling life. And you usually find at least one new gem that helps you twofold. Read this book and GET FIRED UP!
