5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, Inspiring & Motivating!!!
I have been looking for a book like this for the last 5yrs!! Finally a book about finances directed at young women, written by a young woman! Vanessa Summers shows us how to prioritize our savings & re-evaluate what we spend in order to create a secure nest egg for our future, a safety net to fall back on, and some 'fun money' for now! She shows us how to set &...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for the serious investor
The book was short, light and easy to read. It was also a very superficial treatment of the topic, more of a cheerleading tome than anything else. If you want hard numbers/facts, look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Girlfriends' Guide to Money, February 10, 2002

Nice book with lots of helpful information (e.g., charts, tables, lists, etc). The target audience seems to be women in their 20's and as I'm in my 30's I still found it helpful. It's a good beginner book.

Aside from financial stuff, it's motivating and somewhat inspirational -- but not obnoxiously so.

A great gift for a any youngish woman (or guy) who has just graduated, gotten a first professional job, or needs a little push to get financially organized.

For any woman who finds the idea of taking charge of her financial future daunting or dull, Get in the Game is the perfect antidote. In plain English and with entertaining analogies, the book breaks down the basic financial concepts that any woman who is not INDEPENDENTLY wealthy needs to know. A great primer for women on personal finance and investing!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Guide For Young Women During Our Rough Times, September 19, 2001
Things may be getting difficult out in America, but Vanessa Summers does a wonderful job of keeping young women focused on what's important in these days of recession and terrorist attacks. I highly recommend this book, and hope that young readers will take Vanessa's advice to heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential read..., December 18, 2001

Despite being in banking for most of my professional career, I have always had trouble in managing my own finances. It was a scary topic for me, and I found it easier to ignore the whole thing! This is the first time I have ever read anything that presented the whole issue in a reassuring, 'you can do something about this' kind of way. And I have done a lot on the topic since I read the book. I have bought this for my sister, my co-workers and would recommend it for any young woman. It is essential information, presented in a fun and motivating way.

This book is a great staple to any collection of books on finance. It takes a heady topic and brings it to my level, in language I can understand. This book offers true tips - things I can I actually act upon instead of just think about. I highly recommend it!

A simple, helpful guide which has already helped me to make small changes in my spending habits and work towards large rewards - both financialy but perhaps more importantly, with respect to my general feeling of security and my plans for the future.
Thanks for reminding me that its just up to me, and its not that hard.
I sent a copy to my best friend and little sister, they thank you too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Book plus website = financial freedom!, November 24, 2004

I LOVED this book and was so motivated while I was reading it that I signed up for an online software before I got halfway through! Everybody keeps saying that tracking your spending is the first step to saving money, getting out of debt and building a retirement fund. But I've always found Quicken and Money and all those other programs really boring and complicated. Thank God for moneypants.com. Their cashtracking software is tailor-made for idiots like me who prefer pictures to numbers!

Summers is great at introducing her topics in a manner that is not overwhelming. Plus she gives great tips and facts to back up why you should take care of your finances. An excellent read for a recent college grad or your mother.
