3.0 out of 5 stars Some highs, some lows
This compilation is a mish-mash, with highs and lows of Judy's singing. The liner notes are minimal, with no indication of when or where the songs were recorded. Many of the songs were recorded live, probably later in her career; several of the songs were recorded when she was young. Her versions of 'Moon River' and 'Fly Me to the Moon' are very touching and enjoyable...

This compilation is a mish-mash, with highs and lows of Judy's singing. The liner notes are minimal, with no indication of when or where the songs were recorded. Many of the songs were recorded live, probably later in her career; several of the songs were recorded when she was young. Her versions of 'Moon River' and 'Fly Me to the Moon' are very touching and enjoyable.

But some of the songs were recorded when she was not in good voice: in 'That's Entertainment' she is slurring words and not in step with the music; in 'Give My Regards to Broadway', her voice is breaking and squeeking on some words. There are two versions of her signature song, 'Over the Rainbow' -- both recorded live, both of them mediocre recordings.

Still, the beauty and power of her singing comes through on 'Zing! Went the Strings of my Heart' (probably recorded in 1939), 'Get Happy', and 'You Made me Love You'.

Does the sample listening people know what there doing here. They played a 2-CD set online. When I recieved the CD, it only had one CD on it and the songs on it were not even the songs sampled! Surley anyone else who ordered thi Judy Garland CD were pissed- off as much qas I was. Robert L. Anderson
