Get Heavy with Lordi includes DVD with bonus tracks. Lordi is a Finnish metal quintet. The concept for Lordi was conceived in 1992, however, the band was not formed until 1996 by Tomi Putaansuu (known as 'Mr. Lordi') of Helsinki, Finland. Members of Lordi are noted for their elaborate monster-like costumes depicted during live shows and in music videos. Lordi are also known as "The Finnish Monsters" and "The Monsters Of Finland." Lordi won the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with a record 292 points, giving Finland its first ever victory. Lordi featured on the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen when Mr. Lordi presented the award for rock, and they were also the closing act playing their single Hard Rock Hallelujah. They also performed on Britain's Making Your Mind Up for the Eurovision Song Contest.

I got to listen to this CD while I was home on R&R from my deployment in Iraq (fighting the good fight and whatnot). Anyway, my fiancee puts this one on and I was blown away! Not only does this band look awesome (they're like Kiss from the Nine Hells) but they SOUND great, too. The music video was really cool to watch, and the song "Would You Love A Monsterman" is quickly finding its way to the top of my playlists.

The songs on the CD all have great music backing Lordi's impressive vocal range. The fact that they're all dressed like McFarlane toys just reflects their over-the-top music. I highly reccomnend rock/metal fans to check this CD out: You won't be sorry!

This band has little popularity, especially in Canada. I found them out back in June of 2004, when my swedish friend sent me a music video of they're off they're second disc [which for some reason Amazon.ca doesnt have] And I fell in love, and shat my pants when I saw the band! I didnt know they dressed like that.

So Off I went and downloaded the CD [sorry $40 for an import is too much, try ebay.ca] and it was amazing! I suggest listening to the 2 singles "Devil Is A Loser" and "Would You Love A Monsterman" and a few other great tracks "Get Heavy!" "Dynamite Tonight" and "Last Kiss Goodbye" and the fast-paced "Biomechanical Man".

This is a great CD, but if you want to get into Lordi first, I recommend buying the Compilation CD "Monster Show" first, which includes 12 Great songs handpicked from each of they're cd's and plus you get the DVD which includes all the music vids which kickass!
