Praise for Get Lost

“So many girls who are longing to be loved are looking in all the wrong places to be filled. Get Lost reaches into those searching hearts, pulls out deepest longings, and whispers brave truths about a feminine heart’s inherent search for love. Dannah Gresh tenderly reveals how to discover faith-filled contentment that will last a lifetime. Get Lost is a generational game changer!”
—Tracey Eyster, author of Be the Mom and founder of momlifetoday.com

“Confusing our desire for God’s love with a desire for a man’s love is easy to do. Dannah helps us understand God’s created design for this love craving, how we should respond, and what a true God-honoring relationship looks like. Her refreshing honesty and transparency reflect an authentic desire for Him. Dannah is wise and a worthy guide to follow.”
—Barbara Rainey, cofounder of FamilyLife Today

“For every girl who has been in relationship after relationship and lost herself somewhere along the way… For every girl who has lost hope that God’s best is really out there when it comes to love… For every girl who has lost something precious and found heartbreak, hurt, and disappointment… Get Lost is for you. So much more than a Christian how-to guide for love, this book will change the trajectory of your heart by moving you from boy crazy to God crazy. Every girl needs to grab a copy and get lost in the wise guidance and biblical love story Dannah weaves so well.”
—Erin Davis, author of the One Girl series

“This is not just another ‘find your man’ book for young women. In this compelling read, Dannah Gresh effectively shows young women how to be lost in God first, so that if God then calls them to relationship, they will be far more able to love their man well. Dannah, you are a treasure, and so is this book!”
—Shaunti Feldhahn, best-selling author of For Women Only and For Young Women Only

“With transparency, winsome imagery, and wisdom, Dannah Gresh tells it as it is. We want boys more than we want God, yet only when we focus on His love, His life, do we find the fulfillment we seek. I got lost in the pages, and I can’t wait to share this book with the young women in my life. Getting lost in God is a message worth proclaiming!”
—Tricia Goyer, best-selling author of Life Interrupted: The Scoop on Being a Young Mom

“I can’t wait to get this book in the hands of every young woman I know. Dannah not only points out the dead end of trusting in a guy for fulfillment; she practically shows you how tp make Jesus the One your heart adores.”
—Juli Slattery, psychologist, author, and cofounder of Authentic Intimacy

“This is one of those books that I learned from as I read but feel like I’ll return to and learn from over and over as the truths continue to digest into my soul. Dannah is easy to read and feels like a trusted friend.”
—Annie Downs, author of Perfectly Unique

Since receiving Get Lost, I have read it a total of 5 times!!!! I love it! I love the concept! No one has ever put things into perspective for me like this! The author, Dannah Gresh, does an amazing job of addressing the issue of replacing God in your life with that 'ideal' relationship, and I think this is a topic so many girls today are facing - yet no body is willing to take the time to discuss! For me, the book wasn't only speaking about boys, it was referring to anything in my life that consumes my thoughts, or that I've tried to use to fill that 'missing piece' or 'hole' inside me! It could be anything...careers, dreams, goals, accomplishments - doesn't matter! It is only a temporary "fix", replacement, or distraction to the real solution - and that is a relationship with our Heavenly Father! Thank you Dannah for putting into words that spoke so directly to me! I recommend this for all woman and girls! Regardless of if you're married, single, or somewhere in-between! I guarantee it'll change the way you view yourself, as well as your relationships, and pursuit of love! Get Lost ladies!!!!

Girls, learn this now. ¢¾

Get LOST in Jesus.
As a young girl and teenager I desired to be pure. Not out of fear. Because I loved God and I wanted to obey. I still do. Somehow, the goal of purity translated marriage into the magical event that in some heavenly way ended the struggle with sin. I was shocked when we argued. I mean politely disagreed, um, let the sun go down on our anger, because we realized sleep may be of more value. Now I see so many teen and college age girls thinking the same things I did. This book is good ladies. If you are single, (or married) we all need the reminder to GET completely LOST in God. When you get married you still need God to husband your heart. The truth is, your husband will not be able to read your mind or meet the deepest needs of your heart and soul. You may not believe me, I might not have believed myself ☺.

You see him walking down the hall, (what do you mean who? Don't ask me who. You know who I'm talking about!) and all the sudden your mind begins to move at a whirlwind speed! Will this be the day that he finally notices you! How long has it been since you have wanted him to see you? How long have you waited to get his attention? And still, if you do get it, how far will you go to gain his affection? How much do you really need him?
Maybe it has been the same guy for months or years even. Or maybe it is a different guy every week. You can't seem to help yourself with these feelings. It is a longing in your heart that you can't describe - the need to be noticed and the need to be recognized and loved. It is as if you cannot be complete without him. And he doesn't even realize everything he is to you.
You desire and you want...you push yourself further every time.
This is just an example of the violent craving that Dannah addresses in her book, Get Lost, to be released on April 2nd. Not only does she talk about the craving, but she also talks about the cure. Included in this book Dannah walks you through a 10 day "love feast" and finally the fulfillment. This is a book about God and guys and how we can sometimes get them mixed up.
"Discover how to get so lost in God that a guy has to seek Him to find you."
Love can be a complex word. We love our family, we love our friends, we love our food? The English language by far is lacking in the area of what love really is. Dannah goes though scripture and talks about the Hebrew and Greek words for love and what they mean. In example, Hesed is the Hebrew form of love to describe the God kind of love for us. In the Greek, this love is called agape.

Warning: this book is deceiving. While you may think this is another book about finding true love (as in a boyfriend finally), think again. This is about getting lost in God... reconnecting and rediscovering His love for you.

I really enjoyed this book personally. I got it because I thought it would help me in girls' ministry, but it was so helpful in getting me back on track with my devotions. It was convicting and exactly what I needed.

For example, she lists several excuses we could use to not spend time with God. "I am a reluctant lover when... [I] fill my schedule with so much service for my God that I never have time to be still and with my God" (70).

Gresh breaks it up into a ten day challenge to connect with God. You can use each chapter as a day or if you are doing a group study, you have the choice to make it ten weeks.

In this book there is space in case you want to journal about what she is writing about in the chapter. There are also group conversation questions and a leader's guide for a book study in case you are interested in going that route. I did not use either, but for those of you who would like to know, those are available for you.

I reviewed this book for Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers Blogging for Books. I received this book for free in exchange for a review of the book.
