Having completed many interviews in my career and struggled through the filtering of resumes to find the applicant that was worthy of an interview, I found this book to be a valuable guide for applying for any job. If followed by the applicants, it would have made my task much easier.

It contains excellent suggestions for creating a resume, like how to keep it to one page and how to draft a summary directed toward the job you are seeking. It is a fast read and to the point with good action lists. It is written in a crisp non-wordy format that sets the standard for all applicants to follow in their pursuit of their next job.

I highly recommend this book for all those out of work struggling to achieve that important face-to-face interview. Follow the authors advice and successful employment will be a very real outcome.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is REALLY going to help! September 12, 2012

I recently left my previous job and am in the process of looking for other work. What I really like about this book is the actionable steps that the author has explained thoroughly. My favorite chapters are 4, 5 and 6. Have started my action plan of attack and am rewriting my resume. Didn't realize that you have 30 seconds to make an impact. So I'll be getting rid of the waffle at the start. If you are looking for a job or have just started a new one, this book is for you. When I do get the job of my dreams, I'll be revising the chapters on how to be a wonderful employee and dealing with different bosses. Thanks, this book was extremely helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for the unemployed September 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been on both sides of the hiring interview table and I can tell you that this book is a sound guide if you are looking for work. It is especially important to look upon job hunting as a full time job, to network a lot and to use very targeted resumes - a rifle bullet, rather than a shotgun approach. Having my hours reduced at work (partially laid off) was actually the best thing that ever happened to me. I started my own successful business. And that's another approach to the problem of unemployment!

3.0 out of 5 stars way too short January 6, 2013
By C.B.

This had good promise but it was extremely vague. I realize you can't directly address specific issues but this didn't even address broad ones. It was a good try though. I feel he does have something valid to say about the subject, he just didn't manage it here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple & To the Point. December 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Straightforward and to the point.
Though Generalized, it Delivers on it's promise. Though I did not *personally* find much of a need for this book, I was curious to see if the information could be helpful to anyone else I know, or others in general....and it is. I can see the usefulness of it for someone who is struggling, which Is why I'm writing this review.

Do note: You will need to tailor the specifics to your chosen industry of employment.

Still if you need this, and you know you need this, it would be wise to purchase this book.

Definitely a worthy primer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Common Sense December 26, 2012

Well organized and if you sat down and thought about it, and use some common sense, this book would not be necessary. He brings out the basics and does it very well.
