The REAL Body For Life,
By
This review is from: Get Off Your Ass! (Paperback)
While the title of this book certainly gets your attention, Body for Life would have been an appropriate title had someone else not taken it first. The author does not show people how to transform their bodies in 12 weeks; he wants us to change our behavior, especially eating and exercising and do it for the rest of our lives, not 12 weeks, 12 months or 12 years. He starts us slowly having us build the discipline we need to work out and eat right before we do anything else. The way the workouts progress is almost ridiculously slow, but look at it this way: By the time most people have given up on their more extensive workouts, you're just getting started. By his own admission, Tuley does not tell us anything new or revolutionary. Most of the diet and exercise information he tells us, we already know. And he knows we already know it. But sometimes the best coaches are not the ones who come up with new plays or strategies, but the ones who effectively teach the basics and motivate their charges to get the most out of themselves. Tuley is that kind of coach.

Get off your ass! Not nonsense, common sense...,
By Douglas Macron (NY, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Get Off Your Ass! (Paperback)
In a market littered with fad exercise equipment and get-thin-quick snake oils, Marty Tuley's book Get Off Your Ass! is a refreshing kick in the pants.Tuley refuses to coddle his audience by telling them that the road to fitness is an easy one that can be traveled without breaking a sweat. Instead, he straightfowardly asserts the trite but true aphorism 'no pain, no gain.' At the same time, Tuley understands that the average man will reject, and in fact does not require, an overly demanding fitness regimen. He eases the reader into an exercise program that is designed to build a better life and body, not stacks of muscle. He also helps the reader learn that true fitness requires a change in lifestyle, not just sporatic trips to the gym. That said, it is important to note that Tuley's book is not for everyone. An already active person looking to enhance his training needs to look elsewhere. This book is for beginners only, but can work wonders for them.

The Truth Hurts The Typical American,
By Tim Eldredge (Whitewater Kansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Get Off Your Ass! (Paperback)
I read the book, I believe that I was the one Marty Tuley was talking about. When I read the book I felt as if I was getting advice from a personal trainer.Plus I did not have to pay a fee to get the information. If you want to lose weight read this book. The book is brutually honest and it does not take much to follow Marty's program. I hope Marty has a good legal defense team. I think all of these wonder machines are going to try and blame him for the people not buying their ... products. ONE MORE TIME FOLkS IF YOU NEED HELP AND WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT BUY THE BOOK!!!... Marty, it is about time someone told the truth.
