This carrier is HORRIBLE. Stay away from. It doesn't stay open. You have to prop open with a stick or with one hand while you load. VERY useless. If not, it slams shut on you. Also wheels do not stay on with pins. Have to spread pins open to keep wheels on. Lastly, cannot stay leaned up against a wall either! It falls to the ground. If you want to be upset with a purchase, buy this one.

My wife and I use this to transport our beach umbrellas, chairs, towels, bags etc. from our car to the beach, and once on the beach, to drag everything to where we want to sit (note: while the wheels do roll on the sand, moving this on sand is the same as dragging it, but it's still easier than carrying all of the items by hand). This holds lots of stuff, and unlike the negative reviewer, we have not had any problem with the wheels.

Yes, this doesn't stay open by itself, but that does not mean it is difficult to load, though it would be easier sometimes if it stayed open. And yes, this cannot stand by itself when loaded, but when we reach our destination we unload everything anyhow. However, I did subtract one star for these inconveniences.

We have also used this to transport lots of groceries. It wheels effortlessly on sidewalks, and easily handles uneven surfaces when crossing the street. Carrying three heavy cases of a beverage (36 16oz glass bottles) was a breeze.

When folded, this is extremely compact and takes up much less trunk space than other folding carts that may be easier to load or roll across the sand. After watching people who own those other carts struggle to pack their trunks at the end of a day at the beach, I would not trade this one.

Everyone's preferences and uses are different, but for us this cart works quite well.

Update May 27,2011: I just came back from a beach/pool vacation. I was debating whether to pack this in the trunk of my car because I already had so much stuff, but fortunately I did since this turned out to be one of the most useful things I brought. I stayed with my family in a condo on the beach and used this cart (1) to carry groceries from my car to the condo, (2) to carry loose items that I had packed up to the condo (and back to my car when I went home), (3) to carry back and forth to the beach each day 4 beach chairs, 3 beach umbrellas and anchors, a LightSpeed Quickshelter tent, 4 large beach towels, a beach blanket, a camera case, and thermal case holding cold drinks--all in one trip! After the beach/pool vacation ended we stayed in a hotel for a couple of days, and I used this to bring lots of loose items to the room.

Bottom line: This cart is coming with me whenever I go on vacation by car.

It does hold alot, but like others have said, it is hard to load when it won't stay open. Wheels could be sturdier and it is awkward and clumsy to use, and especially when you can't even stand it up against a wall when closed. I use it for groceries from car to condo. The worst part was that it took me 2 hours to put together, and I am always very good at following directions and assembling things.
