The old made new, September 23, 2002

"Get Out" is a rerelease of an older CD that came out earlier in the 90s. For the most part, it consisted of remixes and live recordings of popular Capercaillie songs that had appeared on other CDs. This new version has all those, plus five bonus tracks of all-new material. The new stuff is good, but it's the main body of the CD that really stands out. The live recordings are absolutely wonderful, capturing the excitement of a pakced concert hall. My favorites are "Coisich a Ruin" and "Pige Ruadh," which are impossible not to dance to. The remixes are also great, particularly "Waiting for the Wheel to Turn" and "Dr. Macphail's Trance" (a more contemporary, techno-sounding version of "Dr. Macphail's Reel"). The five bonus tracks are good but not groundbreaking, although the final track ("Shadbally Castle/Caberfeidh") is definitely one of their better instrumentals. This CD is a must for fans of Capercaillie!
