This CD has played many many times in my car. I love it. My first experience with the CD wasn't so great, but after a couple times through, I fell in love.

Despite having better production, Get Rad is a step down from Inspection 12's previous release, In Recovery. Whereas most if not all of the tracks of In Recovery are fairly strong, song quality is a lot more spotty on this cd. I find that Inspection 12 tends to be better when they aren't trying to be revoltingly upbeat. I listen to a lot of upbeat stuff like the Apples in Stereo, so I don't have anything against happy songs in general. However, if the Apples in Stereo are the musical equivalent of a candy bar, then Inspection 12, when playing songs like the worthless "Labels are for Cans," are the musical equivalent of a bucket of artificial sweetener. So cutesy, happy and insincere you just want to hurl. As said before, in addition to the clinkers, there are some very good songs on the album. "Homesick" and "Coup de Grace" are both strong, upbeat (not excessively) openers. "In the Dark," my favorite song on the album, "Out of My League," my second favorite, and "Terrified" are really good, interesting, evocative and moderately rocking songs about fear/failure with great harmonies. When Inspection 12 gets serious, they make great music.
