4.0 out of 5 stars + 1/2 stars...A Satisfying If Not Definitive Look at the 70s
Where's the Eagles? Where's the Jacksons? Where's the Bee Gees? Where's Paul McCartney? Where's Stevie Wonder? Waah! Waah! Waah! Sure, these were all major artists of the seventies, but kwitcherbitchin', already. Do you have any idea how expensive it would have been to buy the rights to their songs? What Shout! Factory has done is to assemble over three and a half hours...

3.0 out of 5 stars Better Collection Available
While this seems to have the pop and rock covered pretty well, there are better overall collections of 70's music available. Check out Rhino's "Have a Nice Decade". For $10 to 20 more you get twice as much music with extensive liner notes and sterling sound quality.

Where's the Eagles? Where's the Jacksons? Where's the Bee Gees? Where's Paul McCartney? Where's Stevie Wonder? Waah! Waah! Waah! Sure, these were all major artists of the seventies, but kwitcherbitchin', already. Do you have any idea how expensive it would have been to buy the rights to their songs? What Shout! Factory has done is to assemble over three and a half hours of some of the biggest songs of the decade. Twenty-three of these songs reached No. 1, and all but one made the Top 10. [The lone exception was the Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See," which peaked at only No. 108.]

The seventies ushered in the era of the singer-songwriter, represented by such artists as Jim Croce, Janis Ian and Harry Chapin. And no seventies collection would be complete without a heavy dose of disco from artists like the Andrea True Connection, the Trammps and the Hues Corporation.

Sure, you could kvetch about all the great songs that got left off. Instead, focus on all the great music that IS here. Song-for-song, this is a satisfying collection. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED [Disc 1 - 64:47, Disc 2 - 73:43, Disc 3 - 74:06]

I have been searching for a CD containing the original recording of "Precious and Few" by Climax. This group of CD's contained that recording plus MANY more that take me back to a simpler time in my life. I love this set of CD's and will get many hours of listening out of it.

I finally got my merchandise. The sender didn't have the address printed legibly enough on the package. At least that's what the post office said. After I contacted the seller, and finally figured out how to get in touch with them, they were very cordial.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't try hard enough, September 4, 2007
This review is from: Get Ready Here Come the 70s (Audio CD)
Hmmm, let's see...no Stairway to Heaven, nothing by Chicago, and gee, John Denver was a big part of the 70's, no Eagles, no Band on the Run...the list of what was left off boggles the mind. Most of what was included is good,... but after they came out there was no dance without Stairway to Heaven or Color My World...

I never get tired of listening to this DVD. Great memories from the 70's music era. Most if it is Disco but not all of it. Highly recommended if you enjoy the music from the 70's.
