Get Real, People! was an excellent, thought provoking book. It's so much more than a social media marketing book. The first half of the book talks about how you represent yourself online, but it goes further than that and makes you think about how you represent yourself in life. The second half of the book gives very specific ideas of how social media can be used in marketing and for a social media newbie, I found the ideas to be thorough, specific, enriching and absolutely pertinent to our business.

I wish that the book was not mostly about the philosophy of "being real" (being truthful) but also about resources and tools that could help us market using social media. More than 60% of its contents was the author's views on the subject of staying honest.

We all know Social Media is cool and the latest hot thing, but how many of us have really thought about what it means for how we define what's real and not real? And what does this mean for marketing? Some observers and pundits complain that Social Media is creating isolation, but the reality is that Social Media is positively FORCING business and marketing-sales relationships to become more real. This book is a great practical and quick read chock full of practical tips on how to use Social Media to create "REAL-ationship Marketing(c)"...and oh, yeah, by the way, you'll how to be your more real and true self in "real life", too!
