I wish I had this book as part of my self-help library back in 1988 when I got divorced the first time and again in 1996 when after repeating some of the same mistakes and carrying the same baggage, I got divorced again! "Get Real" offers insight into being in the present, the only place a relationship stands a chance of flourishing, and helps the reader clarify who they are as a person and what they want from a lasting relationship. Susanne shares her own story and how she gained the confidence to be happily single and now attracting the right kind of relationships to herself. It is about embracing change including a change in beliefs that may be limiting you, personal growth and being all you can be as a person first and part of a couple after that. I now have the right relationship but probably took the long way there as my first divorce was in 1988 and I found my soul mate in 1999. I found my husband, or as he tells the story he found me, on [...]. Our story is told in our book Some Day[...] and is a good companion to Susanne's book. Her book tells you how to do it and our book gives you a fun real life example.

I was lucky to be able to read a very early copy of Susanne's book a year or so after the sad end of my marriage. I thought I'd done all I could to make it work, and I really couldn't see what else I could have done to save it. This book arrived just at the right time. You'd think a book about relationships would be hammering on about the interaction between couples. Susanne doesn't let you off like that. She talks to you about you, and how YOU deal with YOUR relationships. There are always two sides to a relationship, and making you look at your side from the inside out takes away the blame culture. I have a library of self-help bibles, and most of them don't help much, they just make me feel that everyone else has it sussed. Some have exercises in them, and I don't do them, I just read. I couldn't do that with "Get Real". Within the first few pages, Susanne was shining a torch into dark corners, and had me answering questions in my head. When I got to the exercises, I had to do them, because from the start I was seeing clearly that I hadn't suffered bad relationships by just meeting the wrong women, I'd gone looking for them! She didn't tell me that, it was just so flaming obvious. She helped me look back and see the obvious common factors in all the relationships that I thought were all unique.
Everything about her book is exactly what it says on the tin, getting real. No psuedo psycho-babble, no "just learn to love yourself, then you can love others" crapola, just a plain and simple common sense approach to seeing where it all went wrong before, and how your own internal belief system created that - it didn't just occur. To make it that plain and simple, and make it so obvious is nothing less than genius.
She's a very clever and insightful lady. This is a very clever and insightful book. How good is this book? After reading it, I wrote a letter that freed me, and started to live again, and I didn't even know I'd stopped. For the first time ever, I am looking forward to starting again - when it happens - and I am confident that next time I'll be right for a relationship with a lady that is right for me. What I love about Suzanne's book is that it says what few of the books out there say... that is no matter what relationship you have or are looking for, the most important relationship that you have and indeed will ever have is with yourself. She brings it back to the very basics. When you love, respect and truly appreciate yourself, you become irresistible and a magnet to a hot, hot, hot love life!!
If you are looking for an external, quick-fix, or if you simply cannot be bothered at look at what did not work in your current or previous relationships, then don't waste your money!

I read her book and realised I had been lusting after someone who was soooo not right for me, and I have since let go of him and feel so much better! Sometimes, we just need to have someone else point out the obvious, and Suzanne is very good at this! What I love about this book is that it is so easy-to-understand, and practical! When you apply her wisdom I have no doubt relationships on all fronts, including the one you have with yourself will be transformed immeasurably!

She will rock your relationship world, and help you to establish a rocking relationship- yah!!
