5.0 out of 5 stars 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin' Soundtrack
50 Cent's latest musical release is the "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" (2005) Soundtrack. 50 (AKA Curtis Jackson) enlisted the whole G-Unit Family for this one with Lloyd Banks, Spider Loc, Young Buck, M.O.P., Olivia, Tony Yayo, Mase and Mobb Deep all making appearances. This is not really as a good CD as I thought some of the songs were lamo and this had some good songs on it to like the first single off of it and the one with Mobb Deep and Mase but there were many misteps and it is not just all that. 50 Cent appears on about 85% of the CD and does a pretty good job but the guest are not really even decent. There are a couple of good...

5.0 out of 5 stars 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin' Soundtrack, November 8, 2005
R & B hook singer Nate Dogg also makes an appearance. I feel like 50 Cent & Co dug deep when creating this release, almost like he rewound the clock some years back to when he was an unknown delivering raw music. The album's opener "Hustler's Ambition" is blazing hot, 50 rhymes with hunger, while lacing the track with his own impressive chorus, the end result is a premium cut. The follow up track "What If" is a more laidback, 50 lays questions down while talking about other rappers and singers, a minor snub is sent AZs way. Lloyd Banks and Spider Loc then team up with 50 Cent for the grimy "Things Change". Backed by a pounding beat 50 then collabs with Young Buck and Banks on "You Already Know". 50 teams up with M.O.P. for the outstanding, "When Death Becomes You" one of those tracks that you blast in the whip. Next two cuts are average and have 50 collabing with Mobb Deep and Olivia, and then Young Buck delivers a standout on solo with "Don't Need No Help" dropping his opinion of the law. I am not a big Yayo fan, but he surprised me delivering an excellent track with "Fake Love", feeling the lyrics and beat to this cut. 50 provides another solid track with "Window Shopper", some people may have heard an unofficial version of this one which has 50 calling out Ja Rule, Nas, Jadakiss and Fat Joe. Lloyd Banks provides another thugged out track with "Born Alone, Die Alone" while Havoc and Prodigy collab with 50 again for "You a Shooter". The album's biggest collaboration has 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Prodigy, Spider Loc and Mase working together for "I Don't Know Officer". 50 then puts himself in the perspective of people (enemies, relatives, his son) he knows or knew delivering their opinions on him with "Talk About Me". "When It Rains It Pours" is laced with a sad sounding beat, and has 50 talking to a lil homie. The upbeat "Best Friend" follows, 50 sings to a lady on a smooth track that reminds me of past ballads of his. The album closes off with another banger as 50 and Young Buck tag team "I'll Whip Ya Head Boy". My favourite tracks on this one are "Hustler's Ambition" and "When Death Becomes You". Overall I think the "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" Soundtrack will accompany the movie well; I recommend this release to fans of 50 Cent and G-Unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Rich or Die Tryin is off the hook, November 8, 2005

I kno we all miss the 2pac and biggie days, but get over it. Stop comparing every rapper with 2pac or biggie. We all kno that they were the best and will always be the best, but im just sick and tired of hearing the same sh*t over and over again about how pac and big are better than the current day rap stars. I dont think any rapper out(Except Jay-Z & EM) has the ability to flow like 50 over the beat and the hook of the song (I think 50 proves that with this album). 50 Cent did an awsome job on this album, especially with the songs that include the unheard members of g unit like spider-loc and the newest member, mase. Beats on this album are awsome and to think he did all of this album while filming. I think he has proven to be the hardest working man in Rap and Hip Hop.

Favorite songs:
-"You already know" (awsome beat and 50's flow is untouchable)
-"I dont know officer" (great beat and you get to hear some of the unheard members on g unit)
-"When it Rains It Pours" (SICK hook and awsome beat)
-*EXTRA TRACK* "Best Friend" (Once again, 50's flow is untouchable)
-"Dont Need No Help" (Bucks solo song, bout how he doesnt like the police (Whats new?)
-"Window Shopper" (Song is basically bout how not to hate the player but to hate the game)

5.0 out of 5 stars I like the way the haters find 50 cent sites to pour scorn............, November 25, 2005

because they are too much of a coward to tell the guy to his face. Be honest and admit that you are just plain and simple jealous. One step more and this guy would have come from the sewer and not the ghetto. But he used grit, intelligence and dedication to go to become one of the greatest rap artists of all time. Yes, of all time. I'll admit 50 cannot expect to get an oscar for his acting but it is an honest depiction of his life. If you stop hating and listen to the album, you can hear this guy with all his pain and passion and maybe learn the tactics that he used to elevate himself from whence he came. The cd is fantastic and trust me, I don't even listen to rap but out of respect I had to buy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars 50 CENT IS THE ONE, AND THE ONLY, November 25, 2005

I certainly have to give credit where credit is due. Not only did Curtis Jackson win me over with his movie, but the soundtrack is banging just as well. I don't listen to much rap music, but after seeing the movie, I was compelled to purchase the soundtrack. The one thing that pulls me into 50's music, more than others, is he has an orginal voice that no one can duplicate. It's smooth and his words have deep meaning to them. Basically, as I listen to the lyrics, they send chills through my body because of the truth he speaks. If you ain't never been through nothing, then maybe you wouldn't understand. But for those who have, trust me, you'll feel what I do each and every time I pop the soundtrack into my CD player. Curtis, keep doing what you do best...making money! God has blessed you with a magnificent gift and I, your newly founded biggest fan, is more than proud of you for using it and sharing it with the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars At Last A Consistent Soundtrack!, February 3, 2006
By
Hate him or love him u can't deny that 50 has put out a quality soundtrack. Most soundtracks have one or two hot singles but then when u listen to the whole record its full of rappers u never heard of before rapping tracks that sound like rejects from the latest chingy album. Props should go to fifty for presenting a thouroughly consistent class-a line up with the likes of mobb deep and m.o.p. Fair enough it sounds like evry other g-unit release but in my opinion thats far from an insult in hip-hop these days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, November 24, 2005
By
The problem with reviews for big-shot artists like 50 Cent is that 90% of the time you've got people ripping the album to shreds because the reviewer hates 50 Cent so much. For every super fan there are about 6 haters. I don't care much for 50 Cent, and I've written some pretty nasty reviews for his crew's work in the past (because it sucked) but this time around I'm trying to be as objective as possible.

So G Unit has expanded their roster, adding some well-known although slightly washed-up names to their label. Whether this proves their power in the industry is debatable; I mean, taking an unknown MC and turning him/her into a star is one thing but recruiting a bunch of MCs who've been in the game for 10-plus years? That's cheating a little. The only credit I can give them is that G Unit's power has managed to pull in some fairly outspoken cats (Mobb Deep, MOP) regardless of whatever beef might entail. 50's a pretty controversial guy - whether all the hype is premeditated or not - and to bring in a duo formerly affiliated with Nas? Well, that's something.

I keep thinking that G Unit's music is going to fall off now that 50 and Dre are beefing but I must say that if anything it's the production that steals the show. The beats are pretty consistent throughout and do a good job of complimenting each MC's style: Young Buck's down-south drawl; Banks' grime; MOP's energy etc. 50 keeps the best beats for himself but all-in-all you're guaranteed a solid listen as far as the beats are concerned.

While this is a soundtrack for 50's biopic I think that if you forget that for a moment all you have is an efficient intro-tape to the new-look G Unit. Everyone is showcased on here - even the useless Olivia (is that her name? Damn she is so forgettable). Ma$e didn't really impress me either but then again I think we're all scratching our heads on this one: how does a Bible-thumping MC like Ma$e manage to make his way into a label that glorifies violence, drugs and masogyny? I smell a hypocrite.

Anyway this isn't the most useful review in the world but I feel that it needs to be said to all the people reading this who are genuinely fans that this album is an ideal look at the new-look G Unit label. The collaborations work nicely: the G Unit mainstays blend nicely with the added styles of MOP, Mobb Deep and Ma$e. The production is tighter than it has been on any other recent G Unit material I've heard in the last year - even better than The Massacre (although nobody was writing home about those beats anyway). The addition of a handful of hip hop veterans makes G Unit look like the LA Lakers of two years ago, when they pulled in Karl Malone and Gary Payton: short term it was a great investment but in the long run it didn't do them any good. That's my prediction but with 50 Cent's rising star status who knows maybe MOP with become the next Ying Yang twins and Ma$e will blow up all over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New 50, July 11, 2006
By
Tupac (Miami, Florida) - See all my reviews
If you are a fan of 50 like me this is a great album to add to your collection. It contains all news tracks from 50 and G Unit including the new singles Hustler's Ambition and Window Shopper. This album was great to go with his movie which I have seen with these tracks played in it. 50 certainly has what it takes and has had a very successful career so far. Though he is definitely not the best rapper of all time his music is definitely worth listening to.

Fave Songs Are
Hustler's Ambition
Things Change
You Already Know
Have A Party
We Both Think Alike
Fake love
Get Low
Window Shopper
You A Shooter
I Don't Know Officer
Talk About Me
When It Rains It Pours
Best Friend
I'll Whip Ya Head Boy

I recommend this to any rap fan and definitely any 50 fan this is some great material.

1.0 out of 5 stars Could of been better(anybody besides g-unit?)-come on man, December 9, 2005
By
I'm not satisfied as i thought i'd be. I only got 4 favorites

1-Hustlers ambantion
11-windows shopper
14-i dont know officer
18-whop your head boy

First of all g-units styles are getting old and played out.
All the beats sound the same sha moneys not doing a hell of a job makin anything different. Then da lyrics are the same subject
yeah you rap about guns ,selling crack ,love songs, Blowin heads
off come on man i remember when g-unit was small. The first two
and only members where lloyd banks, tony yayo. Their mixtape
and underground music was way better than it is now plus the
more they blow up the more their music is flockin. Same witt 50. And olivas 2 singles from her upcoming album aren't getting any push at all i bet her carrer with g-unit' going to
flock, she should of signed somewhere else. And another thing
thats funny is how some body who claims to be a preacher who came out last year and being a positive
role model like mase doing on g-unit which is total gangsta rap rapping explicive when he claims he changed. There's A Hypricrit in the Building.
