5.0 out of 5 stars I only wish I'd read this sooner...

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
This is a pamphlet masquerading as a book. It is a slim volume written in huge type with blank pages interspersing pages of text. I read it in about 15 minutes. There is very little information in it, and certainly not enough to justify the publication of a book. Do not waste your money.

This review is from: Get Rid of the Blues: Everything you always wanted to know about Varicose and Spider Veins But Didn't Know Who to Ask (Paperback)
For a tiny book, this packs a wallop of information. I work in the medical field and have been searching for answers to my questions about varicose and spider veins for a long time. I was pretty surprised to learn that the doctors and nurses I work with were as ignorant as I was! The next step was the medical library. I searched for a book--and all I came up with were medical texts the size of phone books and filled with medical jargon. Being in the medical field, I understand the jargon but I really didn't want to wade through it to get the information I needed. Then I found Get Rid of the Blues on the web. What I like most about it is that the author did tons of research (from those boring books I didn't want to read!) and boiled it down to a "cut-to-the-chase" primer. Thank you, Mary Johnson, for writing this book. I can't begin to tell you what a difference it's made for me.

This review is from: Get Rid of the Blues: Everything you always wanted to know about Varicose and Spider Veins But Didn't Know Who to Ask (Paperback)
As someone with long-standing spider veins, I've had questions for years that even my doctor couldn't answer. This book answers them all--and it's so easy to understand. I like the book's positive way of presenting ways I can help prevent spider veins and it was very helpful in giving me tips for how to find the right treatment.

I know because I am one of them! After reading this book, I became much more comfortable and less anxious about my problem. I thought I was the only man to have this condition. Not only that, I learned what I could do about it and was thrilled to realize that it isn't the end of the world. This book was easy to read and helped me find the best treatment. Also, in my job I do a lot of flying and I learned from the book that I was at high risk for developing blood clots--and what I could do to prevent them.

This is the book I've been searching for! It helped me determine what I needed to do for my problem and find competent professional treatment. It also has a great section on prevention and diet. Finally, I can wear shorts again!

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I'd read this book BEFORE I got pregnant!, April 12, 2001

This review is from: Get Rid of the Blues: Everything you always wanted to know about Varicose and Spider Veins But Didn't Know Who to Ask (Paperback)
Ever since I was a teen I've had spider veins--which turned into big, ugly varicose veins halfway through my pregnancy. Talk about miserable! I only wish I had the information I found in this book sooner. I might have been able to help prevent my problem from getting so bad. But there is a bright spot--after reading the book, I know what kind of treatment is available and also, how to help slow down the disease. Thanks!

This book is so well researched that I gained more information with this read than my own MD provided me when I asked him about my varicose vein problem. Well done and I highly recommend it.
