5.0 out of 5 stars Get Smart Again, February 4, 2009
By M. Williams (Baltimore, Maryland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is an excellent DVD. "Get Smart Again" is a reunion movie starring most of the original cast of Get Smart (Ed Platt had alredy passed away). Maxwell Smart gathers together the agents of Control for one more confrontation against Kaos. If you liked the tv series you'll like this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better then the original series... euhh, well, how about better then the Nude Bomb?!, June 7, 2009
By Micheal Hunt (Hellbourne) - See all my reviews
Get Smart was one of those series that never got a proper send off, and it looked to have been destroyed with the 1980 movie, "The Nude Bomb" but this reunion type of TV movie was great and has been a favorite of mine for years.

Don Adams as Maxwell Smart & Barbra Feldon as 99 are still married (thank god this ignored the Nude Bomb story) and are no longer spies. Max does odd jobs here and there, and 99 is writing her autobiography of her days with Control. However, it's been many years since Control was in business, but things soon change as KAOS is now back in business and have in there possession a machine that can alter the worlds weather to any condition with just the push of a button.

And when KAOS is back in business, there is only one man to give the assignment to, and who you gonna call? ... no, not them, you call Maxwell Smart, secret agent 86. Being that the Chief (Ed Plat) had passed on, the new Chief type position is given to Kenneth Mars as Commander Drury, who re-activated Max as a secret agent to go up against the forces of KAOS once again who are now led by Conrad Siegfried (Bernie Koppel) with Shtarker as always by his side.

Max put's together a team of familiar faces from the original TV show, with Hymie The Robot, Larrabee and 13. As well as some new additions like Beamish, a new member to the spy service, and sets out to take on KAOS once again.

Much of the humor derives from classic lines from the original TV show, which seemed to bother some people, but I loved it, and thought they delivered the lines here better in some ways to get the gag to work just as well as ever, some even better then before.

It's great to see the old cast back together and creating a great reunion movie that did not leave you thinking, "the TV show was so much better" it really is a good follow up that I did not leave me with a bad taste in my mouth wondering what parts I would have cut out of the film had I had the chance to before it was released.

The only thing I wish this DVD had was bonus features. I really would loved to have seen more to this then is here. It's one of those movies I had on VHS for years, and when I saw it on DVD I snapped it up, no matter how much the asking price was, but it is a cheapish, even if it is printed in more then 6 colors!

This movie is defiantly one of my favorites. And a particular line in the movie leaves you smiling at the end, when Max says, "99, I love ya better then the whole world, would you believe it, the whole world"

3.0 out of 5 stars Barbara Feldon returns to help Don Adams in "Get Smart,Again!", May 27, 2009
By James McDonald (Lancaster, California) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
The original "Get Smart" tv series was broadcast on NBC 1965-69 and CBS 1969-70. Starring Don Adams as "Maxwell Smart" (Agent 86) and Barbara Feldon as "Agent 99".Get Smart - Season 1 (The Original TV Series)
10 years later, Don Adams returned as "Maxwell Smart" in the motion picture, The Nude Bomb (1980). Other original cast memebers returned, but without Barbara Feldon and the late Edward Platt.
In 1989, Don Adams and Barbara Feldon reteamed for the new tv-movie, "Get Smart, Again!".
Also returning, David Ketchum as "Agent 13", Dick Gautier as "Hymie", Robert Karvelas as "Larrabee", Bernie Kopell as "Siegfried" and King Moody as "Shtarker".
C.O.N.T.R.O.L suspects their is a double agent in their organization. Someone else is working for KOAS. The only man capable of investigating on this case is ex-Agent 86, Maxwell Smart, but would he be wearing his phone shoe after all these years? The United States Intelligence Agency gives it a try.
Maxwell is at a funeral when his phone rings, er ah, I mean his shoe rings.
Smart is re-activated by the USIA to, once again, stop KAOS from destroying the world, but he only has 7 days to do it. Maxwell Smart enlists the help of his former collegues.

Also in the cast: Harold Gould and Roger Price (who both appeared in an episode on the original tv series), John de Lancie, Kenneth Mars, Steve Levitt, Lou Felder, Fritz Feld.

Running time: 93 min.

This DVD has no extras. No audio commentary.

In 1995, Don Adams and Barbara Feldon reteamed again for the new FOX tv series, Get Smart: The Complete Series. Only 7 episodes were broadcast.

Don Adams and Barbara Feldon reunited on the 1 TV Land Awards in 2003.

Don Adams passed away September 25, 2005 of pulmonery infection.

Remake of "Get Smart":

Get Smart (Single-Disc Fullscreen Edition) (2008) starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway.

Get Smart 2 will be released in 2011.
