God I love this band,

It's been a long 3-year wait for us NP fans, but Get Some has been worth every minute.
From the first few, thundering powerchords, you know that all is well in pussyland. There's a really fresh, energetic feel to this album that is obvious from the get-go. The songs are faster and harder than Say Something Nasty, but not as "punk" as the first album. A bit more "metal" I guess you'd say, and Blaine's voice sounds spookily like Alice Cooper on some of the tracks...and that's certainly not a bad thing. The addition of new bassist Karen Cuda seems to have fuel-injected things a bit. The production is much better than the previous records as well. Don't let this scare you off, but they sound sharper and higher-budget without losing any of the raw energy. Lyrically I didn't find myself laughing out-loud as much as I normally do, but there are still some real gems to be had here, especially on "Meaner than my mama". There's even a cover of Ace Frehley's "Snowblind" that utterly blows-away the original. Overall this album does what NP does best, kick maximum a**, and this time they do it with more polished production that only increases the roar. Crank it up and give thanks to the rock n' roll gods that this band even exists. Now, if only I didn't have to keep driving 100+ miles to see them live.

Their Best Yet....,

I popped this in the car cd deck after listening to the Cult's "Electric" & Gun's "Appetite For Destruction" constantly for the last two weeks. You know what? This effort by Nashville Pussy blends the best elements of those two albums and throws in a bit of sleaze like only the Pussy can do. This may arguably be the bands best album, seriously. There's an energy and vibe here not even the first album can touch. The songs flat out rock, the production is first rate (this album has a great overall "sound"), great lead guitar from Ruyter, the new rhythm secton of Karen & Jeremy pound LAMF and Blaine's vocals are killer as usual. I can understand the references in previous reviews to Blaine sounding like Alice Cooper...but only slightly. Blaine is Blaine, case closed. If anything he sounds more like the late Sam Kinison combined with someone like Brian Johnson from AC/DC. The other thought that struck me is the "depth" of Blaine's lyrics. Although they are written in a profane, sleazey, trashy, redneck sort of vain...there is a "profoundness" here absent from the bands previous releases (how often, if ever, has one of the most important figures in the hisory of organized religion been refered to as the "super chimp"?). Throw in a smokin' cover of Ike & Tina's "Nashville City Limits" (as good as Seger's from "Live Bullet") and you've got a 5 star plus release.
All in all a must have add to cart. Anyone who is a fan of this band will consider it money well spent.

where to now?,
By Phil K (Ohio) - See all my reviews

Nashville Pussy has finally matured..???..mutated..??? from the all out southern-fried punk band they started as into a full blown 70's cock-rock outfit....although they still retain some of the redneck sensebilities and humor they've always had, this is just a bit glossier and more mainstream. That's not necesarily a bad thing..this disc sounds great and with the addition of Karen Cuda {finally, a REAL bassist} the band sounds energized....and Nutbush just plain rocks!! Don't know if they will ever be accepted by the general public, but to us fans, there just isn't a better time to be had than at a N.P. show. Curious to see whats next for the Pussies...wherever they head to, it will kick [...]!! We love ya Ruyter!!
