If you're reading this then, of course, you probably already know that Lynn Strait was killed in a tragic car accident, along with his dog Dobbs. This truly was an incredibly sad occurrence, because the music that inhabits Snot's "Get Some," is probably some of the best in this entire "nu-metal" thing.

The musicianship is actually very competent, and all the band members play their instruments well. (Especially Mikey, one of the guitarists.) The album starts off fast and furious, with a catchy little ditty called "Snot." A quick look at the lyrics (Snot, I got to tell ya once again/ Don't try to play my crew 'cause ya just can't win) might lead you to believe this another big talking, idiotic rap-metal band *coughlimpbizkitcough* but the lyrics are actually very intelligent (at times). Topics are all across the spectrum, ranging from serious subjects such as prejudice (Stoopid) and drug use (Tecato), to the absolutely hilarious "Mr. Brett" and "My Balls." The music itself is very fast paced, full of energy and aggression, and easy to get into as well. Over all, this is just a spectacular album, and a must for anyone who calls themselves a fan of "nu-metal." If you're into this, check out Amen and Soulfy (both of whom have sophomore albums on the way), which feature former members of Snot. Also watch out for Strait up: A Tribute to Lynn Strait, out November 7. Lynn and Dobbs, we all miss you...

Snot were the best of the new metal bands. Their album almost captures the furious intensity of their live shows, but it could never fully substitute for seeing the boys live. Songs like "Joyride" and "Deadfall" showcase their amazing musical talent (as well as Lynns f-ed up sense of humor) at high-speed velocity, while "Get Some" is a grim trip into the creepy depths of self-doubt.

We all will miss Lynn and Dobbs forever... people who are Snot fans NEED to go to loudside.com/snot and see the next album that's coming out. "Get Some" is better than both of Limp Bizkit's albums combined, and the more people we tell about Snot, the more Lynn and Dobbs will live on in our hearts.

"Tecato" recounts Lynn's struggles with heroin, something he beat before fate took him from us. Put this disc in your player, crank it to 11, and rock the f**k out one more time for Lynn. And even if Amen aren't as good as Snot was, buy the record anyway. Support Mikey, Sonny, Tumor, Jamie and Fed.

Lynn, we miss you.

This Cd is nothing short of amazing, they put Limp Bizkit to shame. Im not even gonna try to pick a favorite song, they are all so good. If youre a fan of the hip-hop metal style, this is the Cd for you. Its too bad their singer, Lynn Strait, died in a car accident. They were so close to becoming huge. Thankfully, the former members are doing other projects. Mikey Doling and Sonny Mayo, the guitarists, are in Soulfly and Amen, Tumor the bass player is also in Amen, and Jaime Miller, the drummer is in Hero. Too bad that none of these groups come close to sounding as good as Snot. Do yourself a favor and get this Cd right now, because it will become one of your favorites, and you'll see what a great band they were and how good Lynn Strait was. R.I.P.

No...this is not nu-metal. This is not punk. This is not Metal. This is SNOT...a band that had, or has for that matter, no equal. They were able to create one of the most energetic, unique, and awesome sounding records in the last decade. They can not be lumped into any one category, especially the dreadful category that is nu-metal. There are many elements of many different styles of music that are mixed into one album, and all done to perfection. I am sad to say that I was not able to see them live. I was a the Ozzfest in 98 when they were but, I hadn't heard of them, until a week or so after the show so, I paid them no mind. HUGE MISTAKE on my part! The sound of the band on the live album ALIVE is ridiculous! Anyways, you do not know what you are missing if you do not have this album. Get out from under your rock and take your a** to the record store and pick this up! You can thank me later.

I am really curious if the Sugar Ray and Limp Bizkit references are jokes on these bad reviews. To mention Limp Bizkit and Sugar Ray in a review for anyone but themselves or Nsync is pretty much ridiculous. I don't know if its the contrived lyrics or the computer music that sold you. The Snot album is great in proper context. I obviously don't agree that because the man passed away that its any better or worse. This is hardcore music done before most the bands you claim they are trying to sound like were out. The music is great and the singer is the catalyst that puts it over the edge. Check it out, its worth it. Buy a used copy to be safe but I believe you won't be disappointed.

This guy deserved it for real... he isn't or I should say he wasn't an icon at the time, but he influenced so many lives. Helped in so much music. Tragedy doesn't explain it. I have bought this album six times now because I end up giving it to someone who hasn't heard them. I would also do it 10 more times... The reviews will be sad, but the music isn't. It is just great Rock!

You can speak of the good old days with musicians like Jimi Hendrix and such but if Snot would've gotten the chance they would've eclipsed anything ever done in the world of music. Blending Punk, Metal, Funk, and even a little Hip Hop they created a sound unlike anyone and even better it grabbed you immediatly by the heart and wouldn't let go. Lynn's vocals are good despite his limited range but for what he lacks in that department he makes up for it and more with the energy he put into it. Snot, Tecato, My Balls, and Joy Ride all show this and once you listen to it all you can do is sing along with it and become a member of Snot's loyal fan club.

It's sad that Lynn died and he must be remembered so I'm especially happy with the release of Strait Up. And I hope his legend continues through us all.

Check out Soulfly and AMEN too. They contain members from Snot but too bad they just aren't as good. But you can't get any better than perfection right?

I am reviewing this again, for Lynn James Strait, and Dobbs. This will be the second time I review this, and it won't be the last. I will not judge the material here, but make a few comments about Lynn, Dobbs, and the great, amazing in fact, band that was, and still is SNOT. Out of all of the bands I'd ever heard, Snot was one of the most unique, mixing funk with metal with something I had never heard before and probably never will again. Lynn really did have an odd sense of humor, but that just added to the uniqueness of the Santa Barbara based band. When Lynn Strait died, people not involved with the metal scene didn't seem to care. They said, in the pop world, people die all the time, like Brad Nowell, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, and others, and this seemed like no big deal. But in the metal scene it was. All over the U.S. some of the most talented musicians mourned the loss of their dear friend Lynn Strait. At the "Not So Silent Christmas" recording in L.A., Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath burst into tears when it was announced over the loudspeakers that Lynn had died. There were plenty more of them too, Brandon Boyd, Max Cavalera, Chino Moreno, Jonathan Davis, M.C.U.D., and many more. Then there were the fans, us loyal followeres of one of the greatest bands to leap onto the nu-metal scene today. We had no one left, and now we are guided through music by false gods, Fred Durst, Kid Rock, and Eminem, who don't realize how great life is and are only in the music business for the money. Fred Durst used to know, he was a good friend of Lynn's. Lynn was a hard worker, and tried to get all he could out of life by keeping himself alive by beating a heroin addiction. Somehow, that wasn't enough. After being arrested at a Limp Bizkit concert at Ozzfest 1998 for indecent exposure, he told the reporters and police that he was from the band Megadeth, and that was publicized. I still get a good laugh every now and then when I hear that. Lynn was someone to look up to in the music scene, someone who didn't support drugs, and lived everyday to its fullest. Rest in Peace Lynn, We Miss You. Snot crew forever.

Snot will always be one of the phattest bands ever. They played with unmatched intensity and an experimental style that blended into a totally unique sound. Lynn will always live on through Snot's music and our memories.

You want power...nuts...and emotional f***ing guts?!?!? The lead singer (RIP) delivers enough raw, peeled-back nakedness to make those "wannabe" rockers (Limp Bizkit, Machine Head, etc) pale in comparison. This CD rocks! Whatever your political persuasion, you cannot deny the passion that screams from this classic. I agree with other reviewers...had the members survived, SNOT would have easily surpassed KORN & the likes as THE MOST POWERFULL ROCKERS today. Buy this CD! I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
