4.0 out of 5 stars good if you are already a fan
The three singles on this CD are excellent...but I would only recommend them to people who are already fans of Sleater-Kinney and those who understand the leaps and bounds with which their music is progressing and especially where they were coming from when this CD was issued. 3.0 out of 5 stars 3½ stars. These are B-side quality.
Over time, Sleater-Kinney has become one of my favorite bands. And I would recommend the CD Single of "Get Up" to anyone who feels the same way. Each of the songs on the CD is good. But none is great. They're all kind of catchy in that Sleater-Kinney way -- "By the Time You're Twenty-Five" has really grown on me -- but there's not a "Little...

The three singles on this CD are excellent...but I would only recommend them to people who are already fans of Sleater-Kinney and those who understand the leaps and bounds with which their music is progressing and especially where they were coming from when this CD was issued. "Get Up" is off 'The Hot Rock' and is an inspiring, beautiful song with some amazing guitar work from Carrie The other two songs did not make the album, although they were recorded during the same sessions. "By The Time You're 25" which was very very close to making the album is an energetic, pump-you-full-of-energy sort of song. "Tapping" is somewhat darker and the better of the last two songs. Either way, this CD is a must have for any S-K fan and if you are just starting out, I recommend 'Dig Me Out' or 'Call the Doctor'.

Buy it if you're a definite fan, and otherwise, check out the albums first.

Great CD single from the best punk band today!
Worth getting if only for the two non-album tracks alone - the raucous and cautionary 'By The Time You're Twenty-Five' and one of my all-time favourite Sleater-Kinney tracks, the hauntingly melancholy 'Tapping.'

Also includes the single 'Get Up' from Sleater-Kinney's 1999 album, 'The Hot Rock.' (Which if you don't have you should get straight away. But that's a whole other review. ;))

An absolute must have for all S-K fans! :)

A fantastic single from Sleater-Kinney. "Get Up" is one of the sexiest songs (really, just pay attention to the lyrics!) and "By the Time You're Twenty-Five" is an irresistable slab of, and I hate this term, pop-punk.

However, the true gem of the single (and one of my five favourite Sleater-Kinney songs) is "Tapping". The opening guitar part is fantastic and it's a little different from the typical Sleater-Kinney track. Sort of epic... at least for the Kinney.

5.0 out of 5 stars "... Desire Shoots Thru Me Like Birds Singing...", July 19, 2000
This review is from: Get Up (Audio CD)
There are three songs on this fantastic single. The first being the upbeat, motovationaly poetic 'Get Up!' which appears on the album THE HOT ROCK. Then next song 'By the time you're 25' is perfect tuneage for the commute to work. One line in particular sounds pretty much like the mantra of most of the 25 yr old kids I know...'I want,I want, I want to get out of this repatitious job'. Indeed. The last song on this single is "Tapping" which sounds more like Call the Doctor era SK. Its slower than the first two and rounds out the disk perfectly. If you love Sleater Kinney (and I know you do), dont miss this cd...

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 of their best, April 8, 2002
This review is from: Get Up (Audio CD)
"Get Up" and "By the time yr 25" are such good riot girl pop. Both b sides are great, better than a lot of the songs that made it onto the Hot Rock (which was fairly disappointing after hearing this EP).

Before i ever heard of sleater-kinney i thought riot grrl was stupid and dumb. then my friend asked me to use my record player to listen to this. when i first heard corin tucker singing i realized that this is was what i had been searching for in music all my life. the songs range from happy to bittersweet and the melodies are breath taking. Also i recomend just getting hot rock for more of songs as such. but if u want a couple of really great singles here ya go.
