5.0 out of 5 stars The CD AC/DC should have put out....
It's kind of hard to find the words to write about what I have described as one of my top 10 favorite CDs of all time (I own around 800).
I could mess around with a bunch of philosophical terms and BS like that, but I'll put it to you straight. This is the CD that AC/DC should have put out after Back In Black. If you love AC/DC (particularly Bon Scott era)...

3.0 out of 5 stars Heavily AC/DC influenced rock with conviction
This band are better on record than live, which is very rare for this sort of stuff. This is bar rock skirting bar metal. Done with conviction and intent. Song titles like Beat to Death Like A Dog, No Friend of Mine and The Devil Sent You give you a rough idea of the sort of 'done me wrong' headspace these guys are coming from.

Live, the one time I saw them,...

I could mess around with a bunch of philosophical terms and BS like that, but I'll put it to you straight. This is the CD that AC/DC should have put out after Back In Black. If you love AC/DC (particularly Bon Scott era) you will love this band and you will love this CD.
Check out "Beat to Death Like a Dog", "She's a Screamer", and "Ride with Yourself" (RWY was on the Wayne's World SDTRCK). There are NO throw aways on this CD, but those are three that really stand out to me.
I don't know what else to say, but I love this band and this CD. If you love hard rock and you love the AC/DC type sound, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, it's AC/DC-esque but..., May 5, 2006

All the tracks one this CD are catchy, high energy and well written. The energy and freshness that withered away from AC/DC after the Mutt Lange albums (with the marginal exception of The Razor's Edge) are here in spades.

I don't think you have to be an AC/DC fan to love this CD but you should know that this is miles from all the nu-metal and rap metal groups. It's not metal at all in my opinion. It's melodic hard rock. I love the more trendy genres too but if you want something that's back to the roots without sounding dated you need this disc.

I've seen them live too and they were great (including the mix which you can almost never blame on the band).

I haven't picked up their latest release yet (& Then It Got Ugly) but I plan to.

Live, the one time I saw them, the bass sound utterly ruined proceedings. It must be assumed that this was a problem at that one gig because there are no such problems here.

The real downside comes from the fact that if I wanted to listen to AC/DC then I'd just throw one of their innumerable discs on. These guys are such utter clones of that sound. They are great for a good time but there is no real virtuosity here, no particularly amusing lyrics, no desire to do anything but follow a blueprint that's been done a hundred times before and better.

This is a good album to pick up if your into AC/DC - it could open up a whole new band for you as these boys have a number of other releases - can't review them as I've not heard them. But I can recommend this as an intro to these boys.
