5.0 out of 5 stars Great Record
This is a fantastic record....Every track is great. I especially like Trash Talking Pixie and Bib Front. Adam Levy's guitar playing is tasteful and fantastic as always. The band is top notch. Totally digging David Smith's Bass playing. Kind of Miss Adam's ES-335 sound, but the Tele vibe is pretty happening. It goes without saying....Otis Clay sounds great, as do all...

1.0 out of 5 stars eh
Didn't like it. His style here is definitely different than how he plays with Norah's band. This is not a bad thing, but not to my taste. Here he plays more alternative type stuff.

Get this record and get Buttermilk Channel as it's on of my all time favs.

I can't stop playing this CD! It seems to get better with every play. The vocals are fabulous and the instrumentals keep playing in my head. My favorite is "To Kill a Mockingbird," one of the great tunes written by Adam. Adam has been fabulous with Norah Jones and even more exciting in this new release with his own band.

the only complaint i have about this cd is that the songs are too short!! this music is groovy cool, and the special guests on this cd are fabulous: otis clay, norah jones, and the holmes brothers were my favorites. i can't wait to see adam levy on tour!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs from a great guitarist!, April 8, 2003
This review is from: Get Your Glow on (Audio CD)
Adam Levy's guitar playing is great, but this cd isn't just for technical guitar nuts. The songs are great... from the catchy jazz/r&b instrumentals (most of which are original compositions) to the great cover songs with guest vocalists. Norah Jones and Adam created an amazingly beautiful "Love Me Tender," but the next song is even better. Otis Clay, singing Dylan's "Tonight I'll be Staying Here with You," is r&b perfection. Check it out!

the only complaint i have about this album is that the songs are way too short! i wanted more music from adam levy - his guitar sounds are groovy cool. three of the album's special guests - otis clay, norah jones, and the holmes brothers knocked my socks off. they were my faves.
i can't wait to see him on tour!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Original Player Out There, March 25, 2003

Adam Levy is the best, and most original, jazz guitarist out there. I've heard folks dog him for sounding too much like Bill Frisell but that's nonsense, he has his own distinct wonderful sound. And in a sea of big jazz boxes and muffled tones, Adam is a breath of fresh air. I dig everything he does and "Get Your Glow On" is no different. [...] Need I say more? Just buy the darn thing! And be sure to buy "Buttermilk Channel" if you don't already have it! ...

The best things about this CD are the variety and the playing. Levy goes from funk styling on electric guitar to some gorgeous acoustic playing. Wonderful to hear Otis Clay on Dylan's song, Norah Jones is wonderful doing Elvis but my favorite singing is on "No Easy Way Down" with the Holmes Brothers. Great cd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay Album, Awesome Singing!, January 17, 2005

I bought this album specifically for the Susan Marshall track, being as I am a huge fan of hers. I was pleasantly surprised byt he other vocal tracks on there. "No Easy Way Down," is one of my favorite Carole King songs of all time. BUT nothing can beat Susan's UNBELIEVABLE version of "Even If It Takes A Lifetime." It is Al Green meets Bonnie Raitt. The album is worth that song alone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy listening, tastefull, innovative jazz ..., December 29, 2003

Liked it a lot, good player, great compositions, some of the compositions hit magic (Dylan's song, acoustic glow). The mix is very 'polite' and 'laid back'. didn't like the synthetizer or electric piano or whatever it is, feels tad like plastic on marble. Will definitely look for more stuff from Adam.
