Gettin' Hooked is a story about Imani Lane, a girl who wants to go to the senior dance with Maurice. Therefore, she comes up with an idea and tells her cousin Kayla about it. The plan is to make an online dating site for local kids. Since Kayla goes to a different school, Imani figured that people from her school could talk to people from Kayla's school. The real reason for the website is for Imani to make a profile that matches Maurice's profile so they can become boyfriend and girlfriend. At first, the website was running smoothly. Then it made an awful turn, the website became too popular too quick; so popular that people from other states began to go on it. Also people from the same school got into fights because their boyfriends were talking to other girls on the website. Already with a life full of drama Imani comes to the conclusion that she wants to know who and where her mom is because her mom walked out on her when she was 5 years old. In addition, her dad was barley in her life because he worked in another state, so she stays with her Grandma. So she didn't need the added drama that the website caused. She goes to Kayla's house and suggests that they shut the website down but Kayla doesn't want to. Kayla doesn't want to shut the website down because she is talking to a really cute boy. The problem is that he is in college and from Arizona. Imani tries to tell Kayla not to go out with him and that they need to end the website but that ends in an argument. At the end Imani realizes that she did not need a website to get a boyfriend because Maurice wanted her from the start. She also gets closer to her cousin and realizes she isn't the reason her mom left because she still was around people who loved her and that's what matters the most.

It was a good read. It wasn't as good as i thought but i would read more from this author

I loved the plot and concept of this book because it was new, fresh and relevant.
The writing is witty and the storyline is engaging.
